What is the composition and action of the drug Polopiryna Complex?

Polopiryna Complex contains acetylsalicylic acid, chlorphenamine maleate, phenylephrine hydrochloride and auxiliary substances. The preparation is in the form of a powder to be dissolved in water. The active substances included in the Polopyrine Complex have a beneficial effect on the functioning of the respiratory system. They also show anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic properties. They clear the respiratory tract.

When is Polopiryna Complex used?

Polopyrin Complex is a drug used in the symptoms of colds or flu. It soothes conditions such as fever, chills, sore throat, muscle and bone and joint pain, headache, nasal congestion. Polopyrin Complex used in colds and flu reduces the amount of nasal discharge (runny nose) and increases the patency of the paranasal sinuses, preventing their inflammation.

Dosage of the drug Polopiryna Complex

Polopiryna Complex is taken after a meal, the powder dissolves in water. It should be taken in a dose of up to 2 sachets a day.

Contraindications to the use of the drug Polopiryna Complex

Polopiryna Complex should not be administered to children and adolescents up to 16 years of age. The drug must not be administered to patients who are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or any other component of the drug. Polopyrin Complex should not be taken by patients allergic to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In their case, after taking Polopyrin Complex, bronchospasm and anaphylactic shock may appear. It is not recommended to administer Polopyrin Complex to patients with bronchial asthma, active gastric or duodenal ulcer disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver, heart or kidney failure.

The drug is not recommended for people with blood clotting disorders and for patients who take anticoagulants together with Polopyrin Complex – there is an increased risk of bleeding then. Contraindications to the use of Polopiryna Complex are also cardiovascular diseases, arterial hypertension, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, glaucoma, prostatic hyperplasia in men and adrenal tumors. The drug should not be used in the case of people suffering from juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus, as well as with impaired liver function – it increases the toxicity of salicylates. Consult a doctor before using Polopiryna Complex in the case of pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Possible side effects of the drug Polopiryna Complex

The drug Polopiryna Complex may aggravate the symptoms of various diseases (see: contraindications to the use of the drug) and interact with other drugs taken simultaneously and with alcohol. Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including those available without a prescription. In people allergic to any component of Polopiryna Complex, allergic reactions, including shock, may occur.

Precautions when using the drug Polopiryna Complex

While using Polopiryna Complex, you should not drink alcohol because there is a risk of damage to the gastrointestinal mucosa and disorders of the nervous system. Store the drug at room temperature, out of the sight and reach of children.
