Finally, available to Polish patients – the missing link in Polish imaging diagnostics – the possibility of performing magnetic resonance examinations in a vertical position
Polish patients have access to modern magnetic resonance imaging, which allows them to study the musculoskeletal system not only in a horizontal (lying) position but also in a vertical (standing) position under natural load. A unique solution on the market to change the patient’s position during the examination is particularly important in the effective diagnosis of pathologies, the image of which may change due to body posture and position, such as lower back pain.
Patients from Poland who experience pains in the musculoskeletal system, and the current diagnosis using traditional MRI has not shown any abnormalities, finally have access to the MRI in a standing position under natural load, which reveals many pathologies not visible in a traditional examination.
G-scan is the ONLY OPEN AND MOBILE system that enables innovative MRI examinations, during which the patient’s position becomes an integral part of the examination result – STANDING TESTS
It is the first in Poland installation of a system for diagnostics using the magnetic resonance method, which is intended for imaging the musculoskeletal system under natural load, in particular the limbs and spine of the L, S, C section. G-scan Brio magnetic resonance imaging, thanks to the technology of tilting the table with the patient, enables the examination of all joints and the spine in a lying and standing (loaded) position, enabling the visualization of physiological changes under the influence of gravity. Imaging can be performed in any position in the range from 0 ° to 90 °. The smooth rotation of the table is ensured by a special hydraulic mechanism.
What does the test under load look like?
The patient is first examined horizontally on his supine and then in a vertical position, which makes it possible to observe the behavior of the musculoskeletal system and changes under load (standing position). Due to the fact that the G-scan Brio resonance allows you to perform both MRI examinations under load and traditional musculoskeletal examinations, the performed examinations can be compared and the most accurate diagnosis can be made.
The unique feature of the system is the very short time of patient positioning – just put the patient down and press the button, and the patient will be automatically positioned according to the type of examination.
Thanks to its function, G-scan Brio provides doctors with a unique additional diagnostic element.
In the supine position, the patient hardly puts any strain on the lower limb, so conventional MRI is unable to detect some significant problems and changes.
By enabling scanning in an upright position, this technology also helps clinicians to diagnose a patient’s functional joint position and whether or not the condition worsens. In addition, the G-scan Brio MRI is open and therefore the most friendly for patients with claustrophobia (fear of a small confined space).
With the G-scan Brio MRI, different tilt positions can be obtained, from 0 to 90 degrees. Standing MRI, which uses the principle of gravity, giving additional benefit in diagnosing spinal and musculoskeletal disorders in patients.
G-scan Brio Magnetic Resonance Imaging is an invaluable diagnostic tool for patients who still experience pain after surgery such as the spine, as it can assess the role and effect of a patient’s weight on the curvature of the spine, which cannot be accurately analyzed with conventional MRI scanners. These patients can now hope to have a correct and accurate spine surgery performed, as this examination will give clinicians a thorough view and better analysis of the extent and nature of the injury, visualized along with the effect of gravitational forces.
There are pathologies in which the examination under load is of key importance, e.g. in examining the spine, knee joint or, for example, the ankle of the foot, in which normal magnetic resonance imaging does not reveal any changes and the patient has clinical symptoms.
What pathologies does the MRI under load show:
Spine stability / instability
Degenerative pathologies in the spine
Changes and pathologies in the knee (changes in the meniscus, kneecap)
Hip injuries
Hand, wrist and elbow injuries
Advanced shoulder diagnosis
Pathologies of osteoarticular changes (Sports Medicine)
Changes that make you feel pain
G-scan Brio magnetic resonance by ESAOTE has already been installed at Ortopedica SC in Głuchołazy by the authorized ESAOTE distributor in Poland, KOSMED.
