The New Polish Deal. What is going to change in the healthcare system?
Jarosław Kaczyński, the President of Law and Justice, presented on May 15 the assumptions of the New Polish Deal in the field of healthcare in Poland. These are to be, above all, more money, which will go to hospitals in the coming years (with the assumed increase in GDP).
Kaczyński said the goal is to have more doctors in Poland. They are to be educated in our country, but also “drawn from the outside”. The president said that this also applies to other employees of the health care system.

Jarosław Kaczyński also announced “great investment and repair processes”, as well as the creation of instruments to make such actions possible. For this purpose, a hospital modernization fund, a medical fund, and a hospital development agency are to operate. The latter is to organize the matters of institutions, conduct restructuring, and control the quality of services. The fund for medical malpractice victims is also a separate issue. The PiS president emphasized that there are still many similar events in Poland.

The issue of emergency medical care is also to be changed. There will be duty hours in each poviat, in which this type of help will be provided. This is to be done in three stages – first at the teleportation level, then at the level of teleportation, then contact with a doctor, and if necessary – an ambulance will be sent to the patient.
The president also announced that cardiology and oncology networks will operate in Poland (the latter is already operating as a pilot).
PiS also intends to launch a patient service center – after voluntary data provision, the patient will, for example, receive SMS reminding about medical appointments.
Morawiecki: We are lifting limits on specialist doctors
The statement of the PiS president was supplemented by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. He announced the lifting of limits to specialist doctors, which is to shorten the queues. He also explained that the quality measurement system in the health system is to serve the purpose of “being as motivated as possible” to serve all Poles.
– We will pursue such a policy that the most motivated doctors, nurses, but also orderlies, stretchers, paramedics, and diagnosticians. Laboratory technicians – all health care workers – served us, all Poles, to the best of their knowledge, experience, and heart, added the Prime Minister.
Witek: Extended access to prenatal tests
Elżbieta Witek, the Marshal of the Sejm, also developed a range of assumptions regarding health care. She announced, inter alia, extending access to prenatal testing for all pregnant women.
According to Witek, a program of preventive examinations for people over 40 will also be launched, which will be financed from public funds.
– There is no need to explain to anyone that it is much better to prevent than to cure severe diseases later – said the marshal. She also explained that this would be linked to periodic occupational medicine examinations.
