Peripheral circulatory failure may be the result of an abnormal heart function. This condition is very serious and requires immediate response, as it can lead to ischemia of the organs, which in turn may result in their death or a serious threat to life. Polfilin is a drug used in the treatment of peripheral circulatory disorders and in the treatment of eye diseases based on vascular problems.

Polfilin – how does it work?

The role of the active substance of the drug is played by pentoxifylline, a xanthine derivative. Its task is to facilitate blood flow through the capillaries while reducing blood viscosity and increasing the elasticity of erythrocytes, i.e. red blood cells. Thanks to this, they can move even through thin and narrow vessels, which prevents the formation of blockages and clots. The drug is intended to widen blood vessels. Polfilin is a preparation in the form of a solution ready for the preparation of a drip, also in the form of prolonged-release tablets. An indication for the use of Polfilin there are circulatory disorders in the vicinity of the eyeballs, especially the retina and choroid, disturbances in the functionality of the middle ear caused by circulation problems, as well as ischemic states of the brain manifested by frequent, repeated dizziness and memory impairment. Polfilin is often recommended by doctors in cases of cerebral ischemia after strokes of this organ.
