Poisonous McDonald’s

For some reason, yesterday the news feed was full of messages about how Jamie Oliver brought McDonald’s to clean water, revealing the truth about the production of minced meat, or rather about the processing of meat for minced meat ammonia hydrate (or ammonium hydroxide). This exposure took place at the very beginning of 2012, but for some reason in Russia they paid attention only now))) Unfortunately, this once again proves that while in our country there is nothing to fear for fast food, people do not perceive it as a danger and do not are interested in the details of production, such as food at McDonald’s. But in vain.

I started writing this post at the beginning of the summer, when all of Moscow was covered with such ads:

It seems that one could stumble upon it literally on every street in the city. These endless posters clearly showed that McDonald’s is actively fighting for a positive image in Russia. This far from healthy fast food successfully positions itself as an element of a healthy lifestyle, sponsors the most prestigious sports competitions! Like thousands of other mothers, it will be difficult for me to protect my child from the attack of this advertisement. Moreover, it is often aimed specifically at children. The company’s huge advertising budgets literally shut down modest attempts by parents to convince their children not to eat at McDonald’s. And then, most likely, attempts are made only by conscious parents: it seems to the rest that the food there is fresh and wholesome.

In reality, McDonald’s and other fast food products are crammed with creepy ingredients like trans fats, lots of sugar and sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup, and various synthetic substances.

On the official website of the Russian McDonald’s you can find a list of ingredients for all the dishes, unfortunately, not as detailed as on the website of his American brother. For example, some of the components Big Mac:

glucose-fructose syrup, modified corn starch, thickener E415 (xanthan gum), emulsifiers (E331, E339), food coloring E160a, sodium citrate E331, sorbic acid E200, sodium triphosphate E339, beta-carotene E160a.

But what is “baked” from apricot pies:

sugar, modified starch (E1422), apricot flavor, ascorbic acid (E300), beta-carotene E160a, glucose powder, diarch phosphate esterified with trisodium metaphosphate E1412, maltodextrin, citric acid E330, crystalline glucose, wheat flour, sugar, E472eulgite flavoring, cysteine hydrochloride E500.

Appetizing, isn’t it?

But I especially like the composition Chicken McNaggets (note that more than half of these “chicken pieces” are not meat at all):

Chicken meat (46% minimum), flour (wheat, corn), vegetable oil, semolina, starch, contains wheat starch, modified acetylated tapioca starch, wheat gluten, salt, leavening agents (E500ii, E450i, E341i), bread crumbs (contain wheat starch), extract celery.

The American site also lists the composition “Vegetable” oil:

Corn oil, rapeseed oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil with tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ *) and citrus acid added to maintain freshness, dimethylpolysiloxane ** as antifoam.

*TBHQ – an aromatic organic compound, which is a type of phenol. In large doses (1 to 4 grams), it can cause nausea, delirium, loss of consciousness, ringing in the ears, and vomiting. There is also speculation that it causes hyperactivity disorder in children, and also contributes to asthma, rhinitis and dermatitis.

**Dimethylpolysiloxane – a form of silicone used in cosmetics.

In short, eating McDonald’s food can lead to obesity, diabetes, insomnia, high cholesterol, liver problems, cardiovascular problems, sexual function, and more.

And the most interesting thing is attention, mothers! – it has been proven that, among other things, children who use fast food learn worse, are more often capricious and suffer from mood swings.

If I had my way, I would have legally restricted the advertising and sale of fast food, but for now I hope that my article will deprive you of the desire to go to McDonald’s or feed your children there!

And here’s another nice video for dessert)))
