Poisoning with dishwashing agents – symptoms and first aid

Hand wash detergents rarely cause severe toxicity. Agents used in automatic dishwashers, due to their alkaline nature, may irritate the gastrointestinal tract.

Although the power of industrial products is so great that they can burn the esophagus and stomach, this does not happen after consuming small amounts of these agents.

Symptoms of poisoning

When consumed, at most nausea, abdominal discomfort and diarrhea are observed. Due to their vomiting properties, they have even been used to treat accidental poisonings.

First aid

The administration of the drink is usually sufficient therapy.
