Insects, through the sting, secrete poison into the wound. The venom contains hemolytic substances, neurotoxins, histamine, saponin. The venoms only work parenterally.
Symptoms of poisoning
Following a sting, a painful local reaction occurs first: redness, swelling, soreness. Sometimes we observe general symptoms: chills, increased body temperature, headaches and dizziness, nausea, vomiting, hives, eyelid edema, swelling of the nasal mucosa, nasal edema, asthmatic state, increased pulse rate, heartbeat, shortness of breath, collapse, pulmonary edema – paralysis breath. Usually symptoms disappear after 4-5 hours, although sometimes the feeling of fatigue and headaches may last for several days.
First aid
Moistening the sting site, removing the sting, cooling compresses.
