Point hit: how to clean the pores on the face

Even the owners of perfect skin from time to time find black dots on their faces. There is nothing wrong with this – just an occasion to think and change something in skin care. How to clean the pores on the face, we will now tell.

Why is it important to clean clogged pores regularly?

Pores are openings in the hair follicle where the sebaceous gland exits. In dry skin, the pores are usually small and narrow, in oily skin, on the contrary, they are enlarged.

The pores are filled with the secret of the sebaceous glands – sebum. It is a mixture of lipids (fat) and forms a hydro-lipid mantle on the surface of the skin, protecting it from overdrying and making it elastic. Why do sebaceous plugs form in the pores? This is influenced by at least three factors.

  • Hormones. The work of the sebaceous glands is regulated by hormones. Male hormones androgens, in particular testosterone, increase the secretion of sebum. And the female sex hormones estrogen, on the contrary, reduce it. The root cause of teenage skin problems is hormonal instability. It is also seen in women during pregnancy and menopause.

  • Food. Some scientists link the size and productivity of the sebaceous glands with nutrition: according to them, eating fast carbohydrates provokes the release of insulin into the blood, and insulin in turn affects the sebaceous glands. This theory has so far been neither proven nor refuted, but it does not hurt to know about it.

  • Illiterate skin care. If you take care of the skin incorrectly, its condition will steadily worsen.

How to clear pores on face at home

Why do you need to clear clogged pores at all? It is clear that they look ugly, but, in the end, black dots can be masked with foundation and powder … “Unfortunately, this is not only an aesthetic problem,” says Garnier expert, dermatocosmetologist Marina Kamanina. – Mixing with dust particles and makeup residues, sebum, together with horny cells, forms a sebaceous plug. By themselves, these plugs are not dangerous, but they serve as an excellent breeding ground for the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes (today it is called Cutibacterium acnes), which causes inflammation, and therefore the appearance of acne and blackheads. Therefore, we advise you to act proactively and regularly cleanse the skin so that the pores do not clog. Below are detailed recommendations on how to quickly clear pores at home.

Pore opening

To clean the pores on the face, they must first be opened – then it will be much easier to remove sebaceous plugs and dirt from them. The easiest way is to steam the skin. But before that, it must be thoroughly cleaned – remove the remnants of cosmetics and remove visible contaminants, for example, using Clean Skin Micellar Water for Face, Eyes and Lips by Garnier. The fragrance-free and paraben-free formula is suitable even for sensitive combination to oily skin. Thoroughly removes impurities and make-up residues without rinsing.

Try konjac for washing. It will provide both cleansing of the skin surface, and exfoliation, and a light massage that will improve blood circulation in the skin, which means that it will cope with its functions better, the pores will open more easily. Recently, such an interesting tool has appeared in the Garnier Bio line.

Also on the Internet, when asked how to clean clogged pores, you can find a recommendation to use hydrophilic oils – it is suggested to massage the skin with cleansing oil for quite a long time, with feeling, really, with arrangement. From our point of view, there is a rational grain in this. It is clear that the oil will not draw out impurities from the pores, as, for example, clay or coal. But it perfectly dissolves fatty contaminants that accumulate, including in the pores. A relatively long massage allows him to deal with a large amount of these impurities. Well, we have already said about the value of massage in itself for opening the pores.

Since all cleansing procedures are aimed at removing sebaceous plugs and impurities from the pores, the result will be much more noticeable on pre-opened pores.

For clean pores, timely exfoliation is important.

Steaming

Cosmetologists use a special apparatus for this procedure, while at home it is enough to take a shower: steam from warm water will help open the pores. It should be borne in mind that steaming is highly undesirable for skin with signs of rosacea.

The desired effect has steaming face mask against blackheads and oily sheen “Clean Skin”, Garnier. Upon contact with the skin, the mask launches a steaming action and perfectly cleans the pores from excess sebum and impurities. Clay and zinc in its composition give the skin a healthy look, eliminate imperfections, narrow pores. The tool is great for cleaning pores on the face at home.

Exfoliation

A delicate scrub or acid peel will remove everything from the surface of the skin that prevents it from getting rid of impurities and absorbing active substances from creams and serums. If you do not know what else to try, how and how to clean the pores on the face, take Vichy Normaderm 3-in-1 Cleanser. It can be used as a cleansing gel, as a scrub, and as a mask. Glycolic acid and white clay perfectly care for oily and problematic skin, improving its texture, cleansing pores and giving a matte finish.

Garnier has a great ultra-cleansing gel with a brush “Clean skin. Assets”. Thanks to a soft silicone brush, it acts like a scrub – it mechanically exfoliates dead skin cells and cleanses the pores on the face well, while the formula with salicylic acid is effective in combating the imperfections characteristic of problem skin.

Purification

In addition to exfoliation, cosmetologists recommend using clay-based cleansing masks 1-2 times a week to deeply clean the skin pores. Being an effective absorbent, clay not only draws dirt out of the pores, but also dries the skin, literally absorbs oily sheen. However, to avoid dehydration, do not allow clay masks to dry completely on your face and do not overuse them.

Purifying Mattifying Mask Effaclar, La Roche-Posay with two types of mineral clay and thermal water not only helps to clear clogged pores on the face, but also visibly mattifies the skin, soothes and moisturizes it.

For daily cleaning of deep pores at home, special cleansers are well suited, for example, 3-in-1 multifunctional cleanser with Clean Skin Charcoal, Garnier. Thanks to absorbent charcoal, excess sebum is removed from the surface of the skin, as well as from the pores, the effect is enhanced by exfoliating particles. The composition also includes salicylic acid and blueberry extract. As a result, day after day, you can keep your pores clean and not suffer from oily sheen.

Narrowing of pores

Since there are no muscles in the pores, it will not work to narrow them much. That is, of course, to some extent it is possible, but there are nuances. Alcohol, coal and clay have a temporary narrowing effect. However, they can also dry out the skin, which will lead to the opposite effect – increased sebum production.

Scrub mask “Magic clay. Exfoliating and mattifying, L’Oréal Paris contains eucalyptus extract, does not dry out the skin, but at the same time thoroughly cleanses it, tightens pores. Three types of clay remove impurities and mattify the skin.

Mask-film against black dots “Clean Skin, Active” with charcoal, Garnier also helps shrink pores. But first, it will remove blackheads (clear clogged pores) and residual impurities on the face. Works especially well in the T-zone. The active ingredients of the mask are absorbent charcoal and salicylic acid.

humidification

All skin types need it, even if there are no signs of dehydration. Moisturizing care is a basic need at any age. And the task of cleansing the pores on the face does not cancel it at all. On the contrary, the lack of hydration in oily skin leads to an increase in sebum production (thus it tries to moisturize itself), and this in turn can lead to even more clogging of the pores. At the same time, for oily skin prone to the appearance of black spots, moisturizers must be selected with great care. Creams, serums and masks should not be comedogenic or too thick.

Gel texture is one of the preferred options for moisturizing care for such skin. For example, hyaluronic aloe gel, Garnier Designed for mixed and normal skin. It is distinguished by a very pleasant texture, similar to the gel of freshly cut aloe. The second main moisturizing component in the composition, in addition to aloe, as you might guess from the name, is hyaluronic acid.

Effaclar H Multi-Replenishing Soothing Moisturizer, La Roche-Posay – the best option for problematic skin care. Lightweight and non-sticky, it helps restore comfort to oily skin irritated by overdrying products. Shea butter, glycerin and thermal water help to moisturize, nourish and soften the skin.

Internet sites offer a wide variety of information on ways to clear the pores on your face without leaving your home. But these tips should be taken critically, because many of them can harm the skin. In our opinion, such a scheme is suitable for deep, fast and safe cleansing of pores.
  1. On the skin, previously cleansed and steamed in the shower, distribute a delicate scrub or peeling with soft circular movements. Wash away.

  2. Apply a cleansing mask to the entire surface of the face, or to areas in need of deep cleansing: nose, forehead, chin. Without waiting for complete drying, remove the mask with a damp sponge.

  3. Apply a moisturizing serum, cream or (if necessary) mask to replenish the water balance in the skin cells.

Cleansing the pores on the face in a beauty salon

In addition to home remedies, experts recommend salon procedures – all kinds of cleansing, each of which has its own characteristics. Cleaning in the salon is especially relevant if the pores on the face are large, if the black dots are old and you can’t cope with them.

Ultrasonic cleaning

Perhaps the most pleasant and painless. Pollution is removed from the pores with a special spatula under the influence of ultrasound.

Mechanical cleaning

Not pleasant ones. The skin is steamed, and then the pores are mechanically cleansed with a spoon of uno.

Vacuum cleaning

Sebum and impurities are “sucked out” from the pores with a special vacuum nozzle.

Atraumatic cleaning

Suitable for people who cannot tolerate pain. Apply to the skin means that open the pores and expel impurities to the outside.

But no matter how non-traumatic salon procedures are, everyone has contraindications. You should not go to the beautician if:
  • you get sick – even with the most banal cold;

  • suffer from dermatitis;

  • you have asthma, lung problems.

If there is an allergy, it must also be reported to a specialist.

How to save the result of cleaning clogged pores

To keep deep cleansing results as long as possible, remove make-up and impurities every night, exfoliate once or twice a week, and add serums and tonics with acids to your facial routine.

The reference scheme (or recipe) for cleansing looks like this:

  1. Make-up removal with, for example, micellar water in the evening.

  2. Washing with gel or foam twice a day, morning and evening.

  3. Exfoliate 1-2 times per week. Being under a plate of dead cells, the epidermis is not able to bring sebum to the surface in the right quantities, as a result of which sebum clogs the ducts of the sebaceous glands.

Make sure that the care products do not contain comedogenic substances. These most commonly include skin softening ingredients such as coconut oil. True, the appearance of comedones is an individual reaction, and specifically your skin can easily transfer the components that provoke them.
