Plus 6 billion: how the world’s population has grown since 1950

At present, the world population has reached 7,9 billion people. The most populous countries are China (1,449 billion), India (1,405 billion), USA (334,6 million), Indonesia (278,9 million) and Pakistan (229 million). our country ranks 9th in the ranking with 146 million people. The Asian region is inhabited by 4,68 billion people, Africa – 1,37 billion, Europe – 748 million, North America – 597 million, Latin America – 434 million, Oceania – 43 million people.

In 1804, the world’s population exceeded 1 billion for the first time. In 1930, it exceeded 2 billion, in 1960 – over 3 billion, in 1974 – over 4 billion, in 1987 – over 5 billion people.
