Plum Etude

Plum Etude is the result of the work of G. Kursakov, who created an interesting variety from a hybrid. She is distinguished by special genetics – she practically never gets sick, is not attacked by pests, loves both heat and cold very much.

History of variety breeding

Plum Etude

Home plum Etude is a variety created from two cross varieties with unique characteristics. The varieties of the Volga beauty and the hybrid Eurasia 21 participated in the crossing process.

This event was held by G. Kursakov, who worked on his idea at the All- Research Institute of Genetics and created an excellent copy to confirm the correctness of the work. The breeder used fruit plants from Michurin’s garden, and in 1983 the experiment passed the test as “excellent”, after which the domestic plum Etude was included in the State Register for the Central Black Earth Region in 1985. Later, it began to be grown not only by amateurs, but also by professionals in this field.

Description of the plum variety Etude

Description of home plum Etude can start with a simple one – the variety grows in different regions. Most often it can be found in the Moscow, Leningrad, Voronezh regions and countries such as Moldova, Estonia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Belarus. Gardeners note that the home plum variety Etude is very unpretentious in care, resistant to droughts and severe frosts. Heat or cold – not scary, pests and diseases – do not threaten.

Plum Etude

Etude homemade plum is considered a medium-early crop. In winter, the buds and bark of trees do not freeze and do not suffer from frost. In summer, during the heat season, the tree does not dry out, patiently withstands any temperature. Its description is as follows:

  1. The tree is low, reaching a height of about 2 meters, which is enough to get a rich harvest.
  2. The crown is round, the root system is well developed, withstands heavy loads.
  3. The branches of the skeleton have a slightly uneven relief surface with roughness.
  4. The bark is brown with a slight gray tinge.
  5. Shoots give a brown tint, thick enough.
  6. Oval-shaped buds of small size do not press against the shoots.

Plum Etude

The leaves are also oval in shape. In homemade plums of the Etude variety, they are large, with a non-sharp top. The flowers are large with oval petals, do not touch each other, creating beautiful inflorescences. The Etude plum itself gives gorgeous fruits – 30 grams of delicious juicy fruit. Oval, smooth contours, beautiful saturated colors, giving off a reddish tint. The skin of the Etude plum is quite hard and dense, there is a thick coating of wax particles.

Plum Etude

The stone of the homemade plum variety is small, easily separated from the pulp. The pulp is greenish, saturated with juice, sweet, tender. The dense consistency allows you to make some homemade dishes from the fruit. The tasting score of plum Etude is 4,4 points.

Characteristics of a variety

Since the height of the Etude plum tree is small, the variety can produce up to 60 kg of ripe fruit. Habitual flowering in early spring bears fruit already at the end of the season or early summer. Table-technical variety fell in love with many farmers and homeowners. For growing a variety of homemade plum Etude is ideal.

Drought resistance, frost resistance

At a temperature of +35 0Since the plum is able to keep the fruits for a long time without dropping onto the soil. Strong crowns withstand the entire crop. In winter at -30 0With the tree does not freeze, is not attacked by pests and rodents.

This is a truly unique variety of domestic plum, which grows on almost any soil at different latitudes of the planet. Also, the humidity parameter, which varies in the territory of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus, is not a fundamental one.

Plum pollinators

Plum Etude

The house plum variety Etude is considered to be partially self-fertile, therefore, pollinating trees must be planted nearby for pollination. A good solution would be to plant the Zarechnaya Early, Volga Beauty and Renklod Tambov varieties.

Advice! It is desirable that all varieties of plums be present on the site.

Yield and fruiting

Etude plum blossoms from the end of May, quickly. The home plum tree produces fruits in a short time period, and the ripening period is medium. Therefore, it will be possible to enjoy delicious fruits only in August.

Fruiting is annual, but has a stable increase – about 2-3 kg with each subsequent season. Homemade plum Etude can give both 20 kg and 60. It all depends on how mature the tree is. Seedlings in the 4th year are already bearing fruit, so you won’t have to wait long for the harvest.

Scope of berries

Plum Etude

The home study is very easy to transport. Plum is stored in containers and industrial refrigerators, where it does not lose its appearance and taste for 2-2,5 months. It is used for harvesting for the winter and fresh consumption.

Disease and pest resistance

Etude’s homemade plum is not susceptible to disease. Rodents also do not attack the crowns and trunk, so it is unpretentious in care. Saplings and mature trees are not covered with nets or paper, they are not wrapped with tarpaulins or fabrics. It turns out that the garden can do without additional care all year round.

Advantages and disadvantages of plum Etude

Plum Etude

It blooms quickly and gives large fruits – this is what is valued in the Etude plum variety. The pickiness of a tree is its feature.

Important! Among the shortcomings, one can only single out that the seedlings are self-fertile, therefore, they need pollinators of several varieties.

Features of landing

Etude’s homemade plum needs a special approach to planting. Seedlings should be two years old, before planting they are placed in a limestone solution so that the roots “get used” to the soil.

Recommended dates

Home plum Etude can be planted in the spring, but the best time of the year is autumn.

Choosing the right place

The soil for a home study should be breathable. The best option would be moisture-saturated loams. There should be no acids in the ground, and it is advisable to check this – a neutral reaction means the possibility of landing. Finding a southern flat area in the garden is quite simple, but you should not ennoble it. Home plum Etude does not need this.

What crops can and cannot be planted nearby

For pollination, you need to plant the varieties indicated above. It is not recommended to plant hybrids – they have a bad effect on productivity. It is also not advised to plant gardens with various fruits and vegetables, it is better to separate fruit plantings from other crops. Of course, there is nothing forbidden in planting other domestic plums, but there are only two or three pollinators per tree. To grow a large garden, you need to allocate more than half of the space for these purposes.

Selection and preparation of planting material

Plum Etude

Before planting, a hole is dug with dimensions of 70 x 50 x 60, where humus with nitrophoska is introduced to the bottom. The mixture should form a hill, the mass will be 2/3 of the total volume of the pit.

Advice! It is desirable that the soil be dried, otherwise the plum of the Etude variety will be difficult to maintain balance.

Landing algorithm

After installing the seedling in the hole, you need to drive a peg in the middle, which will serve as support for the tree.

Nearby (on the side) clay is poured. The roots must be evenly distributed so that the tree “grabs”. The soil is trampled down after filling the pit and watered at the end.

It is advisable to make a hillock, and not a ditch, so that the tree holds on, since the roots of the Etude seedling are rather fragile. Additionally, you can follow the video:

Planting and fertilizing plums

Plum Aftercare

Further care is to dig up the plots. This should be done in spring and autumn to renew the ground cover. Around the Etude plum trees, watering, weeding and removing all debris from there should be done. Weeds are removed so as not to interfere with the further growth of the plum. It is not necessary to cover the trunks for the winter, the homemade Etude plum variety is very resistant to winter and frost.

Plum Etude

Important! Drought does not harm the Etude plum, on the contrary, it gives the fruits a kind of sweetness.

You can water the tree only in very hot weather. Plum Etude receives up to 1-2 waterings per week, but if it is very stuffy, you need to increase the amount up to three times.

Diseases and pests, methods of control and prevention

Plum variety Etude home is not susceptible to pest damage and does not get sick, so preventive spraying is not required. Also, it is not necessary to carry out treatment and tillage with preparations. However, rotting leaves should be removed in any case, even if there are no prerequisites for disease. It is advisable to remove all small blades of grass and plants that have no place near the Etude table plum variety.

Plum Etude

Conclusion

Plum Etude is an excellent variety for the home garden. The plum of this variety is very sweet, and most importantly, it never gets sick and is not “interesting” to rodents and insects. It can be grown at home on a country plot, in farms.

Reviews of summer residents about plum Etude

Mironov Oleg Pavlovich, 34 years old, St. Petersburg
Surprisingly, my plum grows outside the city, in my dacha. Every year we go here with my family for a portion of fresh fruit.
Antonenko Pyotr Olegovich, 61, Yaroslavl
A friend advised me to plant the Etude home variety, because in the spring I always skipped the planting periods. This plum has endured planting in the fall quite well, probably as it should be. I really like the fruits.
Ekaterina Irina Miroslavovna, 19 years old, Minsk
I planted Etude in my garden, and next to it was Renklod Tambovsky. I cut off the first flowers, and next year the harvest is rich, sweet, very grateful for the advice!
