Excellent, very high quality recorded CD of children’s songs. Works by Andrey Usachev and Alexander Pinegin are performed by Irina Bogushevskaya with the best jazz musicians.
So nice and so rare — a disc with good songs. Indeed, today children are more often surrounded by musical bad taste: except for the classics — songs from cartoons and recordings of the Big Children’s Choir — all more or less modern «children’s pop music» consists of melodies, somehow cobbled together on a computer synthesizer. Against this background, the music CD «Playground No. 1» looks like a real breakthrough (although in fact it is just a solid, high-quality recorded disc). Irina Bogushevskaya sang Alexander Pinegin’s songs to the verses of Andrey Usachev and recorded them with the best jazz musicians. Everything here is real — the piano, and drums, and guitars, and double bass, and the sound effects are not taken from a computer record library (where they are all the same — they wander from one song to another), but created live (a can of pearl barley came in handy as a shaker, and the sound of heels). Together with the disc there is a book of lyrics with watercolor illustrations by Maria Yakushina, bright and joyful.
