There are some planting rules to follow to get a good result. Planting blueberries is best in spring. The seedlings will have enough time to settle down and gain strength before the autumn frosts. Such plants are more likely to survive the winter safely than autumn ones.
You need to plant before the buds appear. We buy a seedling in a container or a pot, soak the roots in water for 15 minutes along with the earth, and only then carefully remove the seedling from the container. Its roots are very fragile. In a prepared hole 60 × 60 cm, we place the seedling vertically, straightening the roots.
The choice of soil is important: the plant loves an acidic environment, and the pH value should be at the level of 3-4,5. The best option for blueberries if the plot of land for them has been plowed for several years, but not sown. The soil should be peaty-sandy or peaty-loamy
For planting shrubs, you need to choose a sunny, but not windy place. Berries grown in the shade will be sour and shallow. In regions with warm climates, tall garden blueberries can be planted. In temperate and northern latitudes, it is better to choose a low-growing variety so that the berry has time to ripen and your efforts are not in vain.
We will take care of the acidity of the soil in advance. Put peat, sand, pine needles and sawdust on the bottom of the pit, mix everything. Add 50 g of sulfur. After that, we lower the seedling and cover it with earth. Put pine needles or straw on top.

Garden blueberries grow up to 2-4 m.The American hybrid is very popular in Russia, but to grow it in the country, you must follow the rules:
- the soil must be drained so that water does not stagnate. Peat or sandy soil is suitable;
- the landing site should be sunny, sheltered from the winds. The presence of other shrubs and trees is not allowed nearby;
- you can prepare a suitable soil yourself. Add a mixture of sand and peat to the loamy soil at the rate of 1: 3. We dilute sour peat with 2 buckets of sand per 1 sq. m. If the soil is poor in organic matter, we add phosphorus, potassium and nitrogen in equal parts.
We fill the hole dug for the bush with the prepared soil, we dig everything up. With proper care, the plant will yield a rich and sweet harvest. Do not rush to pick berries immediately after ripening – wait until they become soft.
