The narrow-leaved oak is a deciduous tree with a wide crown. The homeland of this plant is North America, but it can be grown in Russia, creating suitable conditions for this.

The bark has a brownish-red hue, it has thorns that can reach a length of 3 cm. The root system is strong and powerful. The trunk is rarely straight; over the years, it acquires a curved shape.
Silvery shoots are covered with fluff. The leaves have a regular, tapered shape with a sharp tip. The lower part of the leaf is white, the upper one is silvery-green. The flowers are small but very fragrant. The outer part of the flowers is silvery, the inner part is orange or yellow. The plant blooms in June for 3 weeks.
Fruiting begins at the age of 3-5. The fruits are oval-shaped drupes of a red-yellow hue, 1 cm long. Nutritious berries have a sweet, but slightly astringent, tart taste. The fruits ripen unevenly, but the overripe berries do not fall off, but continue to hang on the branches along with the unripe ones.

The plant is very unpretentious. It can grow well even on saline and poor soils. Dusty and polluted air is not a hindrance for him. The only caveat is that the tree does not tolerate severe frosts, so young seedlings must be covered for the winter.
But in order for the tree to feel good, it is better to find a suitable place for it. The best choice is a sunny, wind-protected area with neutral soil. The plant is planted in early spring or late autumn. The depth of the pit is 50 cm, the distance between them is 2-2,5 m.

The plant is undemanding in care. Enough annual dressing and periodic loosening of the trunk circle. In the spring, pruning of dry branches is carried out.
The plant can be propagated by seeds, cuttings or layering. The latter take root with difficulty, so the most reliable method is seed reproduction. Seedlings appear in the first year and grow up to 80-100 cm.
