Planting a buddley bush
Buddley (lat. Buddléja) blooms for a very long time, exuding a delicate pleasant aroma. A shrub plant vaguely resembles a lilac. Just take care of him. Its landing is not difficult. The result of a little effort will be the beauty of a flower bed or a suburban area.
The genus Buddlejaceae owes its name to Adam Buddle. The plant can be found in parks, on city streets, in private flower gardens. With the right choice of a planting site and proper care, the bush can form a crown extending 2,5-3 m.Even in cold latitudes, it can reach a height of 2 m.The length of the inflorescences, depending on the variety, varies 20-40 cm.
To make the buddleya feel good, choose a bright place to plant it. It must be protected from the winds. Try to keep the shrub separate from other plants.
Observe the following rules when planting:
- plant the flower in well-moistened, drained soil;
- pre-plant seeds and cuttings in the house in the form of seedlings in early February;
- when the seedlings grow up and get stronger, dive it into separate containers;
- transplant the sprouts outdoors in May or June. The soil should be well warmed up;
- mulch the soil around the roots with straw or peat.
With proper planting, there will be no problem with shrubbery.
Its beauty depends on your attention to the plant. Proper care guarantees long-lasting lush flowering of the shrub. For its successful growth, you need:
- Watering. Produced during dry periods. You can’t swamp the land. It is also advisable to spray flowers and leaves.
- Top dressing. It is especially important when the first buds appear. Mixtures with potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen are suitable as fertilizers. The shrub also loves compost slurry and humus.
- Pruning. For the beauty of the plant in the first year, it is important to cut its branches in half. On the 2nd and 3rd years, trim the old and new growths by about 2 buds.
- Shelter for the winter. Before wintering, cut the twigs short, then cover the shrub with a box covered with plastic wrap. Sprinkle straw or dry leaves inside the structure.
Butterflies and other insects will circle around the well-groomed fragrant buddley. By pruning its branches, you can shape the crown as you see fit.
The shrub is irreplaceable in landscape design. A luxurious plant that blooms in gardens and on city streets, always pleases and cheers up.
