Plant watering practices that have been mistakenly believed to be correct all your life

They say, live and learn. Sometimes it concerns even the most banal things in which we consider ourselves to be absolute professionals. This time we’ll talk about which methods of watering seedlings on the site have long been considered incorrect. Perhaps you did not know this?

Now it is 40-degree heat outside the window. If you decide to water your plants at a time when the sun is at its zenith, this is by no means the right decision. Firstly, the moisture will quickly evaporate and the plants will not have time to receive it in full. Secondly, due to droplets falling on the leaves, plants can get burned, since the water will become a kind of lens that will concentrate the sun in one place. Therefore, experts advise watering flowers and plants either early in the morning or late in the evening – at least in summer.

If you think that a lack of moisture is bad, then we hasten to inform you that its excess is also not the best option. Sometimes it is difficult to determine by eye whether it is time to water the seedlings. The best way to test this is to stick a stick into the soil a few centimeters deep. If it is wet, then the watering time has not come yet, otherwise it is worth starting. It is necessary to stop watering at the moment when the water begins to stagnate in the beds and ceases to be absorbed into the soil.

Watering plants exclusively at the root is not enough at all. Moisture must definitely get on the leaves of the plants. To do this, you can purchase a special diffuser that can be put on both the watering can and the hose.

However, there are some exceptions. For example, tomatoes. This culture does not like when excess water gets on the leaves, and therefore they need to be watered exclusively at the root.

Each culture has its own characteristics, as, for example, the tomatoes, which we talked about above. Do not water all plants the same way. Someone needs more moisture, someone less. Study in detail all the crops that grow on your site, as well as their characteristics. So, cabbage and garlic need to be watered much more often than beans or pumpkin. This is important to consider.

It is important to water trees not only near the trunk, since their root system is rather ramified. Therefore, it is necessary to moisten the ground at a distance of 0,5-1 meter from it.

Do not monitor the condition of the water

If you decide to water the plants with water from a well or well, the roots may simply die. You should use exclusively settled warm water, the temperature of which reaches at least 20 degrees. It is necessary that there are no impurities in it – chlorine and salts. If you let the water stand in the sun, it will be able to get enough oxygen.
