Plant Golden Mustache: growing conditions
The golden whisker plant is known for its medicinal properties. In folk medicine, it is used as an adjuvant in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, arthritis, diabetes mellitus and other diseases. To always have such a wonderful helper at hand, many grow a golden mustache at home.
Methods for growing a golden mustache
There are three types of reproduction of the golden mustache: rosettes, seeds and cuttings. Seed propagation is a very long and laborious process, therefore it is practically not used by flower growers.
The golden mustache plant requires watering with water at room temperature
The easiest way to breed a golden whisker plant is to reproduce by rosettes of leaves that form at the ends of the shoots:
- Cut a rosette of leaves from the parent plant along with a small piece of the stem.
- Place the scion in a container of water, you can add a growth stimulant to it.
- Change the water every 3-4 days, and after about 2 weeks, the layers can be transplanted to a permanent place of residence.
Some growers immediately plant the cut cuttings in the soil. In this case, the plant needs daily watering.
When propagating by a cuttings, the upper part of the shoot with two “joints” is cut off from the plant; all the leaves must be removed from the lower part and the cutting must be planted in moist soil. The new leaves that appear will tell you that the plant has successfully taken root.
Creating the necessary conditions for growing a golden mustache
Despite the fact that the golden mustache is very fond of light, direct sunlight will negatively affect its condition. The best place for him is a window sill on the east or west side of the room. The plant to care for is completely unpretentious, and its only feature is thermophilicity.
Golden mustache does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature. The most favorable temperature for him is considered to be from 22 to 26 ° C in the spring-summer period, and in winter and autumn – not lower than 16 ° C
Water the plant with water at room temperature. The frequency of watering depends on the environment: if the room is hot, then it should be done more often. Spraying the leaves will also have a beneficial effect on the appearance of the flower.
In the period from April to October, the golden mustache needs to be fed with complex mineral fertilizers. The shoots of a healthy plant are quite heavy and long, so it is recommended to install a decorative support in the flower pot and tie up the stems as it grows so that they do not break. Daily care and maintenance is all that a plant needs from a person. As a result, with its magnificent appearance, it will not only decorate the apartment, but also help your health.
