Ramipril is used in the treatment of high blood pressure and symptomatic heart failure. It can be assigned by a doctor to treat many cardiovascular and kidney diseases.
Piramil – action
Piramil contains the active substance in the form of ramipril, who is an inhabitant of the angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE). Thanks to influences on action With angiotensin in the body, it lowers the blood pressure by widening the blood vessels.
After ingestion of the drug orally, it is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and the maximum plasma concentration is reached after one hour. Action of the drug occurs one to two hours after ingestion and lasts for a day. Full action the drug is obtained after 3 – 4 weeks of taking. Effective action the drug may take place in long-term use, up to 2 years.
Piramil – application
The drug Piramil is issued on prescription. The doctor recommends taking the drug in the following cases of treatment:
- arterial hypertension,
- cardiovascular diseases of atherosclerotic origin,
- heart ischemia or stroke
- kidney diseases (early stage glomerular nephropathy and overt nephropathy),
- symptomatic heart failure.
The drug Piramil it is also used as a preventive measure after acute myocardial infarction.
Dosage place Piramil depends on the disease entity on which the medication is supposed to affect. Taking the drug must therefore take place under the strict supervision of a physician. Behind dose In the case of treating arterial hypertension, the initial starting dose is 2.5 mg per day, with time the doctor recommends increasing it doses for the medicine to work effectively. Maximum allowable dose daily is 10 mg. There are tablets on the market with a content of 1,25 mg and a multiple of this doses.
Dosage in the case of renal dysfunction, detailed tests of creatinine clearance are required. Based on its result, the initial one is determined dosage, dosage supporting and dosage maximum.
Piramil – contraindications
Contraindications for the use of the drug are, among others:
- hypersensitivity to the active substance,
- angioedema
- the second and third trimesters of pregnancy,
- arterial hypotension.
The drug should not be as well applied in breastfeeding women. Piramil motor skills can also be affected, so you will be reborn during it application driving any vehicle. It is also not recommended application drug in children under 18 years of age.
