The variety “Pinot” is so varied and changeable that it constantly forms new flavors. The technical characteristics of grapes are reflected in the average monthly temperature and moisture level, the number of sunny days and the composition of the soil.

The Pinot grape prefers sunny and well-ventilated areas

Of the existing ones, several of the most successful and popular varieties are distinguished:

  1. Pinot noir. The most popular variety. It is grown everywhere, but it is especially successful in areas with cool and temperate climates. Used in the production of fine red wines. Differs in bright taste and aroma.
  2. Pinot Franc. It grows well in the arid climate of the foothills and on the calcareous soil of the hills. Poorly tolerates cultivation in flat areas and in lowlands. In such conditions, it drops flowers and ovaries, partially freezes. Suitable for the production of rosé semi-sweet sparkling wines. It is reminiscent of Noir in taste and aroma.
  3. Pinot Grigio. A very popular variety. Grown in Germany, Hungary, France, Switzerland, USA. It is considered the best for making white drinks.
  4. Pinot Blanc. It is a kind of mutation of Grigio. Grown in Australia, Italy, Austria, France, Germany and the USA. It is used in the production of classic wines.

The Pinot Meunier variety is cultivated in the mountainous regions of France. Gives the finished wines an exquisite fruit aroma. It is used to create champagne and other sparkling drinks.

The culture is highly winter-hardy. With proper care and the right planting site, it tolerates frosts down to –30 ° C. Withstands spring frosts in buds down to –3 ° C without yield loss.

In the lowlands, vineyards suffer from chlorosis and iron deficiency. With insufficient ventilation, the bushes are affected by real and downy mildew. In conditions of high humidity, the culture becomes sick with gray rot.

“Pinot” is a medium-ripening variety. The bunches reach technical ripeness by the end of September. Small to medium sized berries have a firm, firm texture and harmonious taste. The skin is thin and firm.

Despite the addiction of the “Pinot” variety to the temperate climate, if certain agricultural techniques are followed, the culture can be grown in the northern regions of our country. All the efforts made will be rewarded with a sweet and fragrant berry.
