Pines on the site: how to transplant
You can grow a pine tree yourself from seeds. This option takes a lot of time, so the tree is often transplanted from the forest.
Sowing of seeds is carried out in wooden boxes. The disadvantage of growing from seed is longevity. To speed up the germination process, you can artificially create a temperature difference. The seeds are placed in a refrigerator for a day, after which they are immersed in warm water. Contrasting warming makes them grow actively.
The soil should be light and loose. From above, you can fill it with a small layer of peat. The water in the drawer must not stagnate. To do this, cut several small round holes at the bottom. Don’t bury the seeds. It is enough just to loosen the soil. They will be ready for transplant in a year. It is better to replant the pines in early spring so that they are stronger for the winter. Outdoor care for young pine involves:
- Watering is necessary in the autumn, when leaf fall ends. At other times, the tree does not need additional moisture. Excess water can harm it.
- Top dressing is necessary for the pine within 2 years after transplanting. Mineral complex fertilizers can be applied to the soil around the trunk.
- Pruning – to make the crown dense, the branches must be cut by 1/3 of the length. Pine lends itself well to shaping. This tree is often grown as a bonsai tree.
- Preparation for winter – young pines on the site are covered with light and loose material. You can use burlap and spruce branches. They prevent sunburn on the tree.
Mature trees do not need maintenance and tolerate frost well. Fallen needles retain a sufficient amount of moisture and organic fertilizers.
How to transplant a pine tree to a plot from the forest
Young trees from 3 to 5 years old are suitable for transplanting from the forest. Better to choose a pine growing on the outskirts or forest edge. They have a stronger root system. It is important not to damage the root when digging up. An earthen lump should remain on it, protecting it from drying out.
The pine is planted in a hole along with a lump of earth from the forest. It contains fungi and trace elements necessary for the development of the root system.
When planting, the soil should be abundantly moistened. At the bottom of the pit, drainage must be installed to prevent moisture accumulation. After burying, the seedlings are watered again abundantly.
Growing pine is easy. It is important to transplant the tree correctly. When it gets stronger, it does not require care.
