Gymnopylus is a member of the large Strophariaceae family.
It grows everywhere (Europe, Our Country, North America), while in different regions the time of appearance of these mushrooms is different. The general term is from the end of June to the beginning of October.
Prefers conifers, but often found in deciduous forests. Grows on stumps, rotting branches, whole groups of hymnopile are found on deadwood.
The fruiting bodies are represented by a cap and a stem.
head has dimensions up to 8-10 cm, in young specimens it is convex, bell-shaped. At a more mature age, the fungus becomes flat, while the surface is smooth and dry. There may be small scales, cracks on the surface. The structure is fibrous. Color – golden, ocher, yellow, with brown hues, brown. Often the center of the cap is darker than its edges.
The hymnopile belongs to lamellar species, while the plates under the cap are thin, differ in a rather large latitude, and can grow. In young mushrooms, the color of the plates is light, amber, in old ones it is brown, and spots may also appear on them.
Leg small height (up to about five centimeters), in the lower part it can bend. There are traces of a bedspread (a little), inside – solid from below, closer to the mushroom cap – hollow. The color of the legs of young mushrooms is brown, then it begins to turn white, acquiring a creamy color. On the cut becomes brown.
Pulp the hymnopile is very elastic, the color is yellow, golden, and if you make a cut, it immediately darkens. The smell is specific – sour, sharp, not very pleasant. The taste is bitter.
Pine hymnopile is very similar to other mushrooms of this species, for example, penetrating hymnopile. But he has a smaller fruiting body.
Gymnopilus sapineus belongs to the category of inedible mushrooms.
