Pie with meat and potatoes can be baked from any dough – yeast, shortcrust, puff pastry. The filling also varies: some prefer minced meat and mashed potatoes, others prefer pieces of meat and potatoes. Add basil to it – you get an Italian-style pie, a mixture of Provencal herbs will give the dish a French touch.

You will need: For the dough: – 150 g of butter; – 3 egg yolks; – 0,5 cups of sour cream; – 300 g of flour.
For the filling: – 300 g minced meat (a mixture of beef and pork); – 1 onion; – 4 potatoes; – black peppercorns; – bay leaf; – salt; – vegetable oil for frying.
Make shortbread dough. Put the butter and sifted flour in a bowl and chop with a knife until a homogeneous mass resembling cereals is obtained. In a separate bowl, combine sour cream and eggs, add salt and pour into flour. Knead a soft dough, wrap it in plastic foil and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
Prepare the filling. Salt the prepared minced meat, add pepper and knead well with your hands. Roll up small meatballs and set them aside on an oiled plate. Wash the potatoes, peel and cut into pieces a little smaller than the meatballs. Place the potatoes in a bowl, add salt, ground pepper and stir.

Heat vegetable oil in a skillet and fry the meatballs in it until golden brown. In a separate skillet, sauté the onions, cut into thin rings.
Divide the finished dough on a floured board into two parts. Roll the large one into the layer. Put it in a detachable round shape, greased with oil, make bumpers. Place a layer of onion in a mold, place the potatoes and meatballs on top. Add bay leaves and black peppercorns. Cover the cake with a sheet rolled from the rest of the dough, make a hole in the middle.
Place the dish in an oven preheated to 200 ° C. Bake the pie for about 40-50 minutes. If the top starts to burn, cover it with baking paper. Remove the finished product from the mold and leave to cool under a towel. Serve warm, sour cream or hot tomato sauce separately.

Heat the milk, pour it into a deep bowl and mix with butter, sugar, salt and egg. Mix everything and add sifted flour in portions. After an hour and a half, knead the dough and let it rise again.
Go ahead and prepare the filling. Peel the potatoes, boil in salted water and crush in mashed potatoes. Fry the minced meat in ghee, constantly stirring it with a wooden spatula so that no lumps form. Add salt and ground pepper. Cut the onion into thin rings and fry in a separate skillet until golden brown.
Add an egg to the potatoes, mix thoroughly. Combine potatoes with onions. Divide the matched dough into two parts and roll them into layers. Place one on a baking sheet, greased with butter and sprinkled with flour. Place the potatoes mixed with onions and a layer of minced meat on top. Pour melted butter over the filling and cover with a second layer of dough. Pinch the edges carefully, make a hole in the center of the cake.
Brush with a beaten egg and let the pie sit for 15 minutes. Then place it in an oven preheated to 200 ° C. Bake the cake for about 45 minutes, it should brown. Remove the baked goods from the baking sheet, brush the surface with a piece of butter. Cool the pie a little, cut it into pieces and serve.
