Pie charts are used to show the contribution of each value (sector) to the total (circle). Pie charts always use one data series.
To create a pie chart for a series of data for 2009 year, do the following:
- Highlight a range A1:D2.
- On the Advanced tab Insert (Insert) in section Diagrams (Charts) click Insert a pie or donut chart > Circular (Pie > Pie). Result:
- Click on the pie chart to select it in its entirety. Click on the sector to drag it away from the center. Result:
Note: If you are using number captions, clear the cell A1 before creating a pie chart. In this case, Excel will not accept the column A as a data series and will automatically create the correct chart. If necessary, after creating the chart, you can enter a title in the cell A1.
