Pictures, even more than the interior, convey the mood, the spiritual world of the inhabitants of the house. Even when one painting is bought, the question of where to hang it, so that it not only decorates the room, but also be able to “open up”, becomes quite difficult. What can we say when there are many of them. Nevertheless, there are certain rules for placing paintings in the interior, and they will make it easier for you.
If the Paintings are under glass, hang them correctly so that there is no “mirror” effect. In this case, the lighting on the plane of the canvas should fall from above and from the side. Paintings with a matte surface will look better in front of the window, and those in which green and blue tones prevail will be perceived better in artificial light.
If there is no possibility of natural light, use special lamps, placing them above the picture, they will help to distribute the luminous flux so that it evenly falls on the picture without creating glare if it is painted in oil. It is better to choose LED backlighting with “yellow” light, close to natural.
A picture, regardless of its content and the artistic manner in which it is made, will not look in an interior that is too overloaded with details and color accents. Wallpaper with an ornament or pattern is also not a very suitable background for their placement – walls of a solid neutral color are needed, better than a light one, such a background will provide the necessary perspective perception of the canvas.
It is important that paintings grouped in one place have similar frames, suitable for the artistic manner in which the canvases are written.
In the event that the furniture in the room has already been arranged, find a suitable free surface where the painting, which is a work of art, can affect the audience, this can be an empty space above the sofa, a niche, or just a free wall. Ideally, the place where you hang the painting should provide a sufficient viewing angle and the ability to view it from all sides. In the bedroom, where there is usually little furniture, the ideal place for the paintings is above the head of the bed or on the opposite wall.
Placing paintings in the interior, provide them with the necessary conditions: no drafts and low humidity
If a separate wall is empty in a room, paintings will help bring such a static design to life. Hang several canvases of the same size in a row or arrange them asymmetrically. You can emphasize the symmetry and severity of the interior by hanging one picture in the center, the size of which should be in harmony with the area of the wall allocated for this.
Large canvases do not need to be placed in one line or hung too close to each other, this will make each painting stand out and facilitate the perception of these works of art. Paintings made in the same artistic manner are best placed in one group and placed next to each other.
It is important that it is convenient for the gaze to examine the canvases, do not hang the paintings too high or too low, the center of the composition should be located slightly lower than the height of the gaze.
