Piascledine 300 is a preparation in capsules containing 300 g of unsaponifiable fractions of avocado oil and soybean oil. The drug is used for the symptomatic treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Piascledine is included in the category of other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic drugs. It is available over the counter.

What is Piascledine 300?

Piascledine 300 is a drug belonging to the group of symptomatic slow-acting drugs for osteoarthritis (SYSADOA), also known as other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic drugs. This medicinal product is in the form of hard capsules. The active substances they contain are unsaponifiable fractions of avocado oil and soybean oil. The purpose of Piascledine is a slow (usually several months) therapeutic therapy in which the symptoms of osteoarthritis of the knee joints are alleviated.

When should I use Piascledine 300?

Piascledine is intended for the relief of pain symptoms and difficulty in movement associated with osteoarthritis of the knee in adults. The capsules can be purchased without a prescription – use them as described in the leaflet or as directed by your doctor. The effect of the drug is delayed and may occur after a few weeks of use. The total duration of therapy is usually several months.

Piascledine 300 – contraindications to use

Although Piascledine 300 is an over-the-counter drug, not every person can use it safely. The preparation is not suitable for:

  1. children and adolescents under 18 years of age – Piascledine capsules can be taken only by adults;
  2. people allergic to avocado and / or soy;
  3. people who are allergic to peanuts (otherwise known as peanuts or peanuts) due to the risk of cross-reactions with soy;
  4. people who are allergic to any ingredient of the drug.

The use of Piascledine by pregnant and breastfeeding women is not recommended. In such cases, as well as when planning or suspecting a pregnancy, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Piascledine 300 – composition

The key ingredients of Piascledine 300 are active substances in the form of vegetable oils – one capsule contains 300 mg of unsaponifiable fractions:

  1. avocado oil (100 mg);
  2. soybean oil (200 mg).

The other ingredients, including fillers, are:

  1. gelatine;
  2. beef gelatin (type B);
  3. titanium dioxide (E 171);
  4. yellow iron oxide (E 172),
  5. erythrosine (E 127),
  6. polysorbate 80;
  7. colloidal silicon dioxide;
  8. butylohydroksytoluen;
  9. ink used to mark the capsule.

How does Piascledine 300 work?

The beneficial effects of Piascledine on people with symptoms of osteoarthritis of the knee are due to the following effects of the active substances:

  1. they support the synthesis of the cartilage extracellular matrix;
  2. inhibit the degradation processes of the said cartilage matrix.

The use of Piascledine 300 capsules as recommended after a sufficiently long period of use helps to alleviate the discomfort of the knee joints. The obtained result usually persists also after the end of treatment.

How to use Piascledine 300?

According to the information contained in the Piascledine leaflet, the recommended dose of the preparation is one capsule a day. The agent should be taken with a meal, swallowed whole and washed down with water. Treatment with Piascledine usually lasts for 3 to 6 months and its effect may be delayed by up to several weeks.

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose of Piascledine 300. If you take too much of the preparation, contact your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible.

It is also not advisable to stop taking the drug yourself if you feel that it is not working quickly enough. It is recommended to talk to your doctor when the effect of the medicine seems too weak or too strong.

Piascledine 300 – side effects

Taking Piascledine 300 may be associated with the risk of certain side effects. The most common side effects of using the preparation include abdominal or stomach pain, and diarrhea. There are also cases of headaches, red rashes and dark urine.

Very rare side effects of Piascledine 300 there are nausea and vomiting, jaundice, hepatitis, increase in liver enzymes, reddening of the skin, rash, itching of the skin, increase in blood cholesterol, as well as joint pain.
