Photo Matters

How accurate is an impression of a person’s personality from their photograph?

American psychologists Laura Naumann, Sam Gosling, Simine Vazire (Laura Naumann, Sam Gosling, Simine Vazire) asked participants in the experiment to describe the character of strangers in their photos – in full growth, in a natural and given pose. Then they compared their results with the results of psychological tests that the “photo models” passed, and with the assessments of those who personally know them. It turned out that if the person depicted in the picture is in a natural position for himself, then the idea of him by strangers largely corresponds to the actual features of his personality. So, when we are going to get a job or meet, we should take the time to choose a photo properly.
