Photo-instruction for disassembling a vertical washing machine-automatic

Any washing machine is prone to breakage. Top-loading, which can be disassembled at home, has similar problems with frontal models. Any broken mechanism or piece of equipment needs to be replaced. To do this, the body of the washer needs to be disassembled, find a problem and carry out repairs.

How to disassemble the washer: preparation

For complete disassembly of equipment, you need enough free space. Unplug the machine and move it to the center of the room. If possible, you can take the SMA to the garage and get to work there.

To repair any vertical “Ariston”, “Whirlpul”, “Ardo”, “Kandy” you will need a set of tools:

  • Phillips and slotted screwdrivers;
  • open-end wrenches;
  • set of socket heads;
  • pliers;
  • WD-40 lubricant.

You will also need a container to collect water and dry rags. To remember the placement of wires and contacts, it is better to arm yourself with a camera. So you can reconnect the wiring correctly.

How is a vertical washing machine disassembled?

Take a look at the washer’s instruction manual. Usually there are diagrams of the device device. So it will be easier for you to navigate the nodes and parts of the unit. Electrolux, Whirlpool, Brandt, Indesit vertical loading machines are disassembled in approximately the same way. Differences can be in small details and fastenings.

Start repairing:

  • Disconnect the equipment from the network.
  • Move away from the wall to conveniently approach either side of the machine.
  • First, remove the control panel. For some SMAs, it is enough to pry the latches in the front, for others, to unscrew the screws on the back or on the sides.
  • Lift and set the panel aside. If it interferes, then disconnect the wiring, after photographing the location of the contacts.
  • Behind the block are the screws for fixing the cover.
  • Unscrew them and remove the cover. In the case of Zanussi machines, you will have to remove the side panel and loosen the door latch.
  • Remove the filling valve. To do this, release the clamps and remove the hoses from the seats. Disconnect the wires and press the latch to push the valve.
  • Remove the CMA side panels by unscrewing the screws on the sides.
  • Slide the walls down and set aside.
  • Now access to the fastenings of the front part has opened. Remove the screws, remove the panel.
  • You have access to all nodes. Remove the wiring that is attached to the tank.
  • In most vertical washers, the tank is not removed from the body. Therefore, the bearing will have to be replaced on site.
  • Remove the drive belt from the pulley.
  • Disconnect the heater wiring. Twist the nut and push the center bolt inward. Remove the heater from the tank.

  • Remove the motor by pulling out the contact chips and twisting the mounting bolts.
  • To release the drain pump, release the clamp of the pipe and drain hose, remove them from their place. Be careful, water will flow.
  • The pump must be rotated counterclockwise or the bolts must be unscrewed.

How to disassemble the vertical machine cover? To do this, lay it on a flat surface and follow the recommendations:

  • Remove the powder receptacle by pulling it up.
  • Press the latch on top and remove the button.
  • Behind it are two bolts. Unscrew them.
  • Turn the door over, remove the handle.
  • Unfasten the latches around the perimeter, separate the two parts of the hatch.

Now you can repair or replace faulty elements. And at the same time clean the equipment from debris, mold and fungus, inspect parts for corrosion. Remember and take pictures of the correct location of the components in order to successfully assemble the machine after repair.
