Phenylalanine is a chemical organic compound from the group of essential amino acids. Phenylalanine is one of the 20 amino acids that are the building blocks of most proteins. It is used to support concentration and eliminate post-workout pain.

Phenylalanine – properties

Phenylalanine has two enantiomers: L-fenyloalanina occurs naturally in nature and is absorbed by living organisms. D-Phenylalanine they produce Bacillus brevis bacteria in the process of metabolism. It is part of the gramicidin S antibiotic, which is produced by microorganisms. DL-fenyloalanina it is a mixture created in a laboratory.

Phenylalanine it is needed by the body for the production of tyrosine and neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine.

Phenylalanine – occurrence

In its natural state L-fenyloalanina it is found in meat, fish, eggs, cheese and milk. It can also be consumed in dietary supplements. The highest content is (in order): egg powder, full-fat soy flour and Parmesan cheese.

Phenylalanine – the effects of excess and deficiency

Phenylalanine deficiency in the body is manifested by growth disorders in children, weakness and apathy, anemia, as well as problems with memory. People who show deficiencies tend to have low blood protein levels and a reduced feeling of hunger. They can also lose their hair. There is a risk of impotence in men.

Phenylalanine supplementation should be in the proportion: 14 mg for each kilogram of weight. The usual dosage range is 750-3000 mg daily. When treating depression, the dose is much lower – between 50 and 200 mg a day. The daily intake of 5000 mg and more is toxic and dangerous to health.

Use L-fenyloalaniny can have a positive effect on the condition and well-being, because it strengthens both the nervous and endocrine systems, and thus – the body’s efficiency and mental concentration. Its action is not temporary – in order to be effective, it must be taken systematically.

Phenylalanine – contraindications

His thighs should not be taken by people treated with antipsychotics or antidepressants, especially from the group of monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Use by pregnant women is not recommended.

Phenylalanine – side effects

Taking the recommended doses phenylalanine should not have side effects. Very rarely, nausea, headaches and increased heart rate may occur.
