Phalaenopsis roots resuscitation

If the flower begins to dry out, and the leaves have lost their elasticity, then dig the orchid out of the pot and inspect the root system. The listed symptoms indicate that phalaenopsis needs resuscitation.

Phalaenopsis roots rot with improper care.

The procedure looks like this:

  1. The roots are washed with warm water.
  2. Dry and rotten areas are removed, leaving only healthy roots.
  3. Places of cuts are treated with a foundation solution.
  4. Next, the flower is planted in a new pot with orchid substrate. Fine bark and charcoal are added to the soil.
  5. The core of the orchid is not deepened into the ground, otherwise the plant will continue to rot.
  6. The soil surface is covered with sphagnum moss.

The roots grow back in a month. The pot is placed in a bright place, the air temperature is maintained at + 22 … + 25˚С.

How to grow roots of a phalaenopsis flower

If the plant is left with only leaves, and there are no roots at all, then they act a little differently. First of all, the orchid is saved in order to build up the root system later. Rot is removed, and the cut sites are disinfected with charcoal or activated carbon powder. Give time for everything to dry out.

Then they act like this:

  1. Phalaenopsis is placed over a transparent glass of water. Make sure the leaves and roots are not submerged in the liquid. The distance to the surface of the water is 1-2 cm.
  2. Place the glass in a well-lit place, but direct sunlight should not hit the flower.
  3. Leaves on both sides are moistened with a solution of fertilizer for orchids. You can spray the flower with succinic acid to stimulate root growth. For 1 liter of water, take 4 tablets of the drug.
  4. After air baths with succinic acid, the leaves are wiped with a napkin dipped in a solution of vitamins B1, B6 and B12. Pour an ampoule of each agent into 1 liter of water.

The roots grow in 2-3 months. When they reach 5 cm in length, the flower is transplanted into new soil for orchids.

Orchids can also be planted in moss to grow roots. Greenhouse conditions are created for the flower, that is, it is placed in a bright, warm place and air baths are regularly made.

It will not work to grow roots by watering or transplanting into nutrient soil. Drastic measures are needed.

When building up the root system, be sure to monitor the condition of the leaves and stem. If the color has changed, then the selected method is not suitable.
