The recommendations have already been approved by CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky. “We must protect our children and adolescents from COVID-19 infection and its severe complications at all costs,” Walensky explained in her decision.

After this decision, children and adolescents 12 to 17 years of age may receive a booster dose five months after receiving the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine. Immunocompromised children between 5 and 11 years of age should receive it 28 days after the second injection.

According to the New York Times, the side effects of the vaccine in children are minimal. In rare cases, inflammation of the heart muscle may occur, and more often young men are exposed to it.
