Peterborough Beer Festival Festival) is the second largest beer festival in the UK. It takes place in a small town in the east of England every year in the second half of August.
At least 40 thousand people come to the festival – so that the population of the town increases to 200 thousand, but not for long, because this joy for beer gourmets lasts only 5 days.
The festival not only presents all the varieties of world beer (each brand has its own trade booth), but also a varied menu. In addition to beer, you can also try cider and pear cider, which the British even came up with their name Perrie.
Each festival participant enjoys live music, exclusive glasses (a new collection every year), funny entertainment, lottery and celebrations until the morning (this is how the childhood of the famous “The Prodigy” Keith Palmer, who lived in Peterborough, spent his childhood).
The pavilion hosting the festival is essentially a small town, with everything from the hospital and post office to playgrounds and the Royal National Lifeboat Institute! Apparently, so that the contented and cheerful guests of the festival do not swim in beer.
And swimming (and even drowning) is just something – traditionally at a holiday there are more than 450 types of ale made from 100 different types of brewer’s yeast.
If someone really likes a unique variety, then they vote for it – after which, as at every festival, a champion of brewing is determined. The champion then treats the guests with his excellent beer, so the voting is always with interest, and its results are eagerly awaited.
In addition to choosing a champion, or rather, if some beer manufacturer is unlucky enough to become a champion, the Best New Brewery is elected.
But it is also not just that, and if this time he does not have to go broke for a crowd of 40 thousand, then next year the festival will not do without a new beer, brewed by the Best New Factory.
Speaking about the history of the festival, it is worth mentioning that it turned 2017 in 40, it was invented by the British company “Natural Ale” – Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), which has existed and is appreciated since 1970.
There are also Rules of Survival at the festival. – they are extensive, but 3 of the most important can be distinguished:
1. Do not forget to eat (in conditions of sunshine and increased consumption of strong beer).
2. Don’t forget to drink (this time water!).
3. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
