In his youth, Petya was expelled from two high schools for bad behavior. He “arranged a circus” in them. In his youth, Peter dressed like a dandy, was often among the Moscow hippies, clashed with them and fought.
One of these fights ended in failure: the surgeons miraculously managed to save Peter. After several surgeries, he still came out of a coma. Hyperactivity and the desire for shocking forced him to perform unusual acts.
In search of yourself or mental anguish
Over the course of ten years, Mamonov changed many professions: he worked as a typesetter in a printing house, a proofreader and head of the letters department in the Pioneer magazine. He immediately skipped the money he earned.
Then he got a job as a bathhouse attendant-masseur, an elevator operator, a loader in a store, a fireman in a boiler room and a translator of Danish, Swedish and Norwegian poetry. He inherited the profession of a translator from his mother.
Due to his expressive nature, Mamonov did not stay in one place for a long time. Problems with alcohol, love failures and constant financial difficulties led him to depression. He settled in a communal apartment in a remote area of Moscow.
Due to unemployment, he often went hungry and even quit drinking. With all this, he writes poetry. In 1980 alone, he composed about seventy songs. Mamonov decides to create his own rock group “Sounds of Mu”.
And then a dry law was adopted in the USSR, which had a very bad effect on Mamonov’s health. Experiments with drugs and the use of colognes, perfumes brought him to a solvent, after which death was inevitable! But God saves Peter the second time.

Peter turned out to be “a violent epileptic showman: a mixture of a street jester, a gallant bastard and an unconscious bitter drunkard.”

Mamonov: “The group is a complex organism, and not everyone can afford to take care of it. I lost “Sounds of Mu” precisely because I didn’t build relationships within the team, I tried to do everything from above ”.
Mamonov was in a state of deep depression. I didn’t see the meaning of life and didn’t want to do anything: “I had a complete collapse of my life. I rested my horn at forty-five, when I had grandmothers, fame, children, and a good wife. And there was no reason for me to live ”.
Breaking the Deadlock
A radical revolution in the life of Pyotr Nikolaevich took place in 1995, after he moved to the village of Efanovo, Moscow Region. The public accepted this act as a hermit, an escape from the worldly vanity.
Pyotr Nikolayevich found a way out of his life deadlock in Orthodox Christianity: “I began to think for what I should live at all, why should I have these allotted seventy – or how many – years of my life. And my great-great-grandfather was the archpriest of St. Basil’s Cathedral. Let me, I think, buy a prayer book, I’ll see what they are praying about ”.
Since then, he took up self-improvement in Orthodoxy, began to regularly visit the local church, confess and pray. With his judgments about the meaning of life, he helps others to look at life with different eyes.
Having adopted Christianity, Mamonov stopped acting in films, categorically rejected any proposals and applications.
Many people say that Peter is very sinful, and that is why he is trying to atone for the sins of his former life. And what’s wrong with that? There is no person without sin, even a small one. Mamonov came to God in a difficult way. It is much worse if a loser, saturated with negativity, blames the whole world for his uncomfortable life.
