Herbicide Agritox is a systemic drug with selective action. Designed to control annual dicotyledonous weeds of various crops, including cereals, peas, potatoes, alfalfa. It is important to correctly prepare the working solution, use it correctly.
Composition and form of release
The drug belongs to the class of aryloxyalkanocarboxylic acids. 59% of the composition is represented by MCPA.
Agritox is sold in the form of a water-soluble concentrate. More often on sale there are plastic canisters with a volume of 10-20 liters. Less commonly, these are bottles with a capacity of 0,5 liters.
Active ingredient of the herbicide Agritox
The active substance of the drug is MCPA. The herbicide is a complex of salts:
- dimethylamine;
- sodium;
- potassium.
This combination inhibits the synthesis of enzymes and growth substances, inhibiting the respiration and photosynthesis of weeds. The sprayed solution is absorbed by the leaves of plants, but its effect extends to other aerial parts and the root system.
Advantages and disadvantages
Agritox is a highly effective drug. Its advantages are:
- applicability to a large number of crops;
- effectiveness with respect to the most common and harmful weeds;
- the possibility of using in tank mixtures and increasing the overall efficiency;
- mixing with other drugs can reduce their dosage, toxicity;
- impact on both the aerial parts of plants and the root system;
- little danger to bees;
- selective action – directed to weeds, safe for cultivated plants.
The herbicide also has disadvantages:
- high danger to humans;
- weak sensitivity of some weeds;
- the speed and strength of the action is affected by air temperature, the level of soil moisture.
Preparation of working solution
The preparation of a working solution from the concentrate is started immediately before the planned processing of crops. The algorithm is simple:
- Prepare the spray tank.
- Pour clean water, filling the tank up to half.
- Pour 5 liters of water into a separate container, add herbicide – the volume depends on the crop being treated.
- Thoroughly mix the drug with water.
- Pour the prepared solution into the spray tank, mix.
The effectiveness of the drug depends on the correct preparation and use of the solution. A full result is observed only when weeds are treated with a freshly prepared agent.
Instructions for use of the herbicide Agritoks
It is recommended to treat weeds with Agritox on calm days. The air temperature should be between 10-20 °C. In frosts and droughts, the fields are not cultivated. These conditions are important for the effectiveness of herbicide use.
When processing fields with a pesticide, the guidance and control of specialists is necessary. You need to work in overalls. Be sure to use personal protective equipment:
- gloves;
- respirators;
- glasses.
While working with the herbicide, the container with the ready-made solution should always be supervised. It is unacceptable to use the pesticide if there are fish ponds nearby. If the fields are used as pastures, animals can be released on them after 45-50 days.
Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after handling the herbicide. You need to do this after preparing the solution. After treatment, a body wash is recommended. Use running shower water.
If the undiluted concentrate or the prepared working solution of the herbicide gets on the skin, it must be carefully removed. Rubbing and smearing the drug over the body is prohibited.
Methods of application of the drug Agritox depend on the crop being treated. There are few differences.
Herbicide Agritoks for potatoes
According to the instructions for use of Agritox VK for processing potatoes, a working solution is prepared from 3 liters of water and 12 ml of herbicide per hundred square meters. Spray the culture once. For 1 hectare, the consumption of the Agritox working fluid is 200-300 liters. Processing is carried out until shoots appear or at a tops height of up to 10-15 cm.
Exceeding the application rate can slightly slow down the growth of the crop, as it creates stress for it. The situation will normalize in 1-1,5 weeks.
The use of a herbicide is not recommended if the tops of the potato have been damaged by frost or hail. The waiting period after processing is 60 days – before this period, root crops cannot be dug up for storage or eaten. Taking into account such features, the herbicide is not recommended for very early varieties.
Herbicide Agritoks for alfalfa
Alfalfa is sprayed with Agritox in phase 1-2 of the trigeminal leaf. The culture is routinely treated against annual dicotyledonous weeds. The working solution is prepared according to the standard algorithm. Consumption per hectare is 200-300 liters (0,5-0,75 liters for cooking). Processing is done once.
Herbicide Agritoks for peas
Peas are treated with this preparation once. The culture is sprayed in the phase of 3-5 true leaves, when the height of the plants is 10-15 cm. The working solution is prepared according to the standard algorithm at the rate of 0,5-0,8 liters per hectare. Waiting period 60 days. The consumption of the herbicide Agritox for peas for grain is 200-300 liters per 1 hectare.
Herbicide Agritoks for cereals
Cereal crops are sprayed with the drug once. The waiting time after processing is 60 days. Features of the workflow are identical for both winter and spring crops.
Crops are sprayed in the tillering phase, until the tube has begun. 1-200 liters of working solution are consumed per 300 hectare. For preparation, take 1-1,5 liters of the drug.
Compatibility with other means
The herbicide can be used for tank mixes. The drug is compatible with the following agents:
- bromoxynil;
- fungicides;
- insecticides;
- sulfonylurea;
- growth regulators;
- herbicides;
- mineral fertilizers.
Fertilizers, insecticides and fungicides can be mixed with Agritox if the periods of their application coincide.
Hazard class of the drug Agritox
The drug belongs to the second class of danger. This is considered high. Recommended use in agriculture under the supervision of an agronomist.
For bees, the hazard class is the third. This means a low risk, the death of insects within 1-5%. Recommended 2-3 km of the border protection zone, summer restriction for 1-2 days.
If the pesticide consumption rate is observed, it is safe for nature (no phytotoxicity).
Analogues
In addition to Agritox, there are other herbicides based on MCPA. Its analogues are:
- Lintaplant;
- Herbitox;
- Amethyl.
Analogues of the drug are also sold in the form of water-soluble concentrates. All of them have a systemic electoral effect.
Conclusion
Herbicide Agritox is a systemic preparation against dicotyledonous weeds, it acts selectively without harming cultivated plants. The hazard class for humans is high, so it is important to strictly adhere to contraindications and not ignore precautions. Peculiarities of pesticide treatment depend on the type of culture; the working solution is prepared according to the standard algorithm, changing only the dosage.
