The German company ABCguard began production of personal underground bunkers in April 2007, and its product immediately found huge demand – in the first month of operation, more than 200 orders were taken. The company recently announced its entry into the Russian market.
Apparently, overseas security experts decided to use rumors about radiation leaks at one or another Russian nuclear power plant. And then there are weapons depots exploding, dumps of toxic waste are burning – this is not a reason to hide underground and close a metal hatch above you. As the manufacturers promise, a person who fears a terrorist attack or a radioactive cloud will be able to provide reliable protection for himself and his family in just a week.
What is a personal refuge? The design of a standard underground bomb shelter provides for two entrances located in the basement of the house and in the garden. In fact, it is an underground bunker equipped with all life support systems, autonomous power supply and a supply of food and water for a month (for 7 people). And all this is packaged in a shell that will provide protection against “unauthorized intrusions, terrorist threats, chemical pollution, natural disasters and any attacks using weapons of mass destruction.” There is no doubt: from all of the above troubles, anyone would not mind protecting themselves more reliably. It is anyone’s guess what is meant by the term “unauthorized intrusions”. The unexpected arrival of the mother-in-law, apparently.
However, of course, only owners of personal land plots will be able to afford the pleasure of hiding from intruders underground. The size of the plot also plays a role: it is not yet clear whether the builders will be able to fit all the necessary equipment under the standard six hundred square meters. Another problem is the documentary approval of such a construction with the local authorities. Since the product is new for the Russian market, the specially negotiated conditions for its authorization are hardly spelled out in our law.
