Personal experience: “I did sterilization and it saved me”

The girl admits: if she found out about the next pregnancy, she would go crazy.

The words “female sterilization” or “tubal ligation” sound threatening. They are associated not with a voluntary method of preventing unwanted pregnancy, but rather with violence against a woman. This radical “contraceptive” began to be practiced in Europe at the beginning of the last century.

In Russia, this method of contraception is not very common even now. Without medical indicators, women are allowed to do it only after 35 years old and already have at least two children. In the West, sterilization, both male and female, has long become a common phenomenon. After all, this is an almost one hundred percent guarantee that a woman will not get pregnant, minimal risks from surgical intervention for the body and economy. However, even those who have decided on the procedure for good reasons have very difficult feelings.

Our heroine, Kaylee Smith, thought about tubing ligation at the young age of 23. Then she gave birth to her first twins. And the girl signed the final consent after the third birth, when twins were born again. She said that sterilization was both salvation and suffering for her.

“I just want to say: thank God I did it! Because I would go crazy if I knew that I was pregnant again, – says Kaylie. – We have four children, and the money situation is sometimes very tense. If we had at least one more baby, we would have to buy a van for 12 people to take this whole crowd for a walk. We would need a bigger house, with a giant pantry for groceries and a supply of coffee for us. “

Kayleigh thanks Heaven for not daring to sterilize after the first birth and for not doing it after the second. The second time, she gave birth to a girl, and the doctors themselves offered the mother of many children a dressing.

“My girl died – Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. And I would not have been able to survive this loss if I had not become pregnant again, ”says Kaylie.

The tubes were tied to the young mother during a planned cesarean section. And now the girl has ambivalent feelings: on the one hand, sterilization made her life much easier. On the other hand, it is very strange to understand in your early 20s that you will no longer have children.

“Along with the opportunity to enjoy your sex life carefree, sterilization is practically irreversible infertility. I strongly believe in a woman’s right to control her body. But this is a decision that requires a balanced approach, because it is for life, ”she says.

No, of course, the reverse operation can be done for both men and women. George Clooney, for example, did just that: once he had a vasectomy, and then passed it back. At the age of 50, he still wanted children.

“We do not know what will happen tomorrow, how our life will turn out. You should not decide on sterilization if there is even the slightest doubt. But I had no doubts. Therefore, I am glad that such a procedure exists, ”says Kaylie.

Interview

How do you feel about female sterilization?

  • I have a bad attitude. We really don’t know what will happen tomorrow. If you want children, that’s it, the train is gone.

  • There are probably cases when the procedure is justified. There are women who get pregnant despite condoms and pills.

  • I would never have dared, but a woman should have a choice.

  • Normal procedure. For example, after 30, taking oral contraceptives is already dangerous, and condoms with your husband are boring.

  • Some of them generally need to be forcibly sterilized.
