Until recently, this insecticide was only used in the military, but now you can also get it in normal stores. Permethrin is a popular remedy for ticks, mosquitoes and other insects. Permethrin – properties
Permethrin belongs to the group of synthetic pyrethroids. It is highly poisonous to insects and highly toxic to cats and aquatic organisms, although it is slightly toxic to other species and humans. Permethrin works in a contact and gastric way. It is made of chrysanthemum flower extract.
Permethrin is so effective that clothing soaked with it protects against all species of pathogenic ticks, and even their nymphs. This measure causes the ticks to die or become paralyzed. Permethrin is therefore an insecticide.
According to many experts, permethrin is a great way to avoid contact with many insects, such as ticks or mosquitoes. The substance is used in agriculture to protect plants, but it has also been used in households or the army in equatorial forests, where it was used to soak uniforms, mosquito nets or soldiers’ tents.

Permethrin – application
Preparations containing permethrin and its derivatives are used:
- in agriculture to protect against pests of alfalfa, maize, cotton, wheat crops and to combat poultry parasites;
- in veterinary medicine and health care as an ingredient in shampoos against lice, fleas and in ointments against mites;
- as a personal protection measure – clothing impregnated with permethrin protects against tick penetration into human skin;
- in tropical countries mosquito nets impregnated with permethrin help fight the spread of malaria;
- a sanitary agent for controlling insects living in farm buildings (including dog pens and kennels) and living quarters;
- wood impregnation – in the furniture industry used in wood impregnating agents to combat trapping.

Permethrin – ticks
As shown by practical tests, after contact with soaked or sprayed clothing I will change, ticks die or paralyze and cannot bite. Aerosols containing this agent can be used to impregnate blankets, tents and shoes. After impregnation, the item should be left for 2-4 hours to dry.
However, you do not have to do it yourself – you can get clothes with an impregnated agent in hunting clothing stores. It must have safety approvals – they should guarantee the maintenance of the properties of the clothing for at least 50 washes.

Permethrin – characters
Permethrin can be used in two ways:
- special clothing – now you can get special clothing clothing soaked in permethrin. You can get it, among others in specialist shops for people interested in hunting, foresters and anglers, i.e. people who are particularly exposed to tick bites. These clothes have appropriate safety certificates and should retain their properties for 50 consecutive washes;
- permethrin spray – in this form, permethrin is available in online stores. It is enough to spray it on clothes, curtains or other material. Remember to use permethrin outdoors and allow the material to dry thoroughly for another 2-4 hours. Permethrin – safety measures
When using the preparation with permethrin, use protective clothing, rubber gloves and a mask – it may be harmful through the respiratory system. Permethrin should not be used directly on animals or human skin. Should this happen, rinse the sprayed / covered area immediately. If the preparation with permethrin is swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
Permethrin in any form should not be used by pregnant women. It should be remembered that measures with permethrin have a long-term harmful effect on the aquatic environment, and try to avoid releasing it into the water.
