Perfume is a tool of seduction

Spring is the time not only to update your wardrobe, but also to choose a new perfume. Finding your fragrance is not easy, but the right perfume will help reveal your individuality.

Once upon a time, loyalty to the only spirits was considered good form. But with our rhythm of life and a huge selection of perfumes, it is not easy to observe such monogamy. Yes, and it is not necessary. The more perfumes in your arsenal, the more opportunities to diversify your life and create the right mood for today. However, buying up all the new items in a row is reckless and wasteful. Why spend money on a perfume you feel uncomfortable with?

The choice of a new aroma favorite requires balance and seriousness. After all, he has a difficult mission: to convey your mood, character, individuality with his notes. And maybe even secret thoughts. And of course, he should help you in the love field. After all, perfume is the most powerful tool of temptation.

Seasonal variations of a famous fragrance

The easiest option to replenish the aroma wardrobe is to try on a seasonal version of an already beloved perfume. Almost all brands annually release new interpretations of successful compositions. But here it is not so much the name that matters as the sound. Often the versions are not at all like the originals. Perfumers keep saying that sometimes flanker is more difficult for them. And it happens that a new member of the aroma family overshadows the original.

For example, in Russia, Chance Eau Tendre, Chanel, is sold better than the classic Chance. Why then new items are not called an independent name? It’s just that from a marketing point of view, it’s easier for brands to promote fragrances under an already promoted name. A lighter, spring reincarnation of the composition can always be recognized by the additions of Eau Fraiche (literally “fresh water”), Eau Légère (“light”) or Eau Florale (“floral”) in the title. Or simply by concentration – Eau de Toilette.

In the spring version of Mon Guerlain Florale, the trio of jasmine, lavender and vanilla was added with a feminine touch of peony. It turned out tender, romantic and sophisticated.

Eau de toilette or perfume?

By the way, about the concentration, or the percentage of pure aromatic substance in the formula, on which the odor resistance depends. It is lowest in cologne (Eau de Cologne) – only 2-5% pure aroma essence. Next come toilet water (Eau de toilette) – 5-12%, and perfume water (Eau de parfum) – 10-20%. At the top of this pyramid are perfumes (Parfum) – from 20 to 40%.

Recently, brands have been actively promoting a new format – oils. They have the same high concentration of pure aromatic substances as in perfumes, but they are placed not in an alcohol base, but in an oil one. Therefore, they are revealed on the skin more interesting and intense.

“In oil form, a familiar fragrance will resonate on the skin in a new way. By the way, floral notes are more pronounced in oil, while woody notes feel better in an alcohol base,” Francois Demachy explains the “nose” of Dior.

Two more formats that are gaining popularity are a perfumed hair veil and a body mist. They tend to have less alcohol, and may also have care ingredients added so that the products do not dry out the hair or skin.

Note: to increase the durability of the fragrance, it is better to apply it over the lotion of the same name from the same line or body moisturizer. Dry skin quickly absorbs the oils contained in the perfume, and the fragrance literally dissolves.

“Smell itself does not exist”

Purchasing a perfume is a spontaneous and intuitive process. We are often fascinated by the opening notes of a fragrance. But then something happens and after a few minutes he doesn’t seem so attractive anymore. Or quickly bored, ceases to give pleasure.

It’s hard to avoid mistakes. Too much depends on our condition at the time of purchase.

The encounter with the aroma lasts only one or two seconds, but it is this that gives rise to our sensations.

“Odor itself does not exist,” says Patrick McLeod, a French neurophysiologist. – We perceive it only at the moment when the molecules of a certain substance coming from the external environment reach the upper part of the cavities inside the nose. This “meeting” lasts only one or two seconds, but it is she who gives rise to our sensations. And the perception of aroma depends on 50% of the substance, and 50% on our mood, physical and psychological state at the moment. This is a scientifically established fact.”

Find your scent

Still, the risk of making a mistake in choosing a flavor can be reduced. Firstly, the composition that interests you should be tried only on yourself. For each person, it reveals itself in its own way, not in the same way as on paper or fabric testers.

A fragrance that sounds “fucking sexy” on someone you know might be quite ordinary on your own skin. It’s all about physiology: the intensity of certain notes is affected by hormonal levels, skin type, its smell, body temperature, medication, even food!

“Not everyone knows that some products can significantly distort the composition,” says perfumer François Demachy. “For example, garlic and a number of spices change the smell of the skin for two to three days.” And the head of the commercial office of the Santa Maria Novella brand, Gianluca Foa, recalls:

“The same perfume can manifest itself in completely different ways depending on the time of year and atmospheric humidity.”

So, apply fragrance to your wrists, but don’t rub them together. This common mistake “breaks” the composition and prevents it from opening properly.

Now follow the evolution of the smell: in the first 10 minutes, the initial notes “play”, the next 10 minutes are the heart notes, and then the tail notes. So the decision to buy should be made no earlier than half an hour.

Perfume Dolce Garden, Dolce & Gabbana, is built around the notes of the plumeria flower. In addition to it, a mix of coconut, tangerine and vanilla sounds in the composition.

What will your perfume say?

Flour choice behind? You have become the owner of “your” flavor. Keep in mind, he can tell a lot about you. “By giving preference to this or that smell, we communicate to others something that cannot be expressed in words,” explains psychotherapist Gonzag Masquelier. The expert believes, for example, that those who choose collection perfumes “not for everyone” are dependent on someone else’s opinion. This makes you tirelessly control your appearance, strive to arouse interest in others at least with perfume.

Women who prefer romantic light floral scents, know how to listen and appreciate others, guess and prevent their desires. For such ladies, bursts of optimism alternate with periods of doubt. They expect support from the world and dream more than assert themselves.

love citrus, tea, sea or aquatic scents? Congratulations, you live in harmony and harmony with yourself. True, they are demanding of others, appreciate sincerity and loyalty.

Sweet gourmet compositions allow us at any age to feel like a child who loves to make faces in front of adults. Fans of dessert flavors like to periodically play different roles, leaving the true “I” only for loved ones.

People who love passionate, tart, oriental compositions with notes of patchouli, amber and spices, they are most afraid of boredom and mediocrity. They need to act, reign, win and constantly surprise others.

Adherents classics, like Chanel No. 5 or Guerlain’s Heure Bleue, honor traditions and family values. They do not easily make friends, being content with a narrow, proven social circle.

Of course, these are just touches to the portrait and rules, from which exceptions can always be found. No wonder that perfumery is the most subjective area of the beauty world.
