Pepper Victoria

Our domestic selection has given gardeners quite a lot of successful varieties that are distinguished by excellent taste and a rich harvest. But even among them, varieties can be distinguished that have been in special demand among gardeners in our country for many years. Such undisputed leaders include the sweet pepper variety Victoria.

Pepper Victoria

Characteristic of the variety

Plants of the Victoria variety have compact semi-spreading stem-shaped bushes with a maximum height of up to 60 cm. They are perfect for growing in small greenhouses and film beds.

Pepper Victoria

Sweet pepper Victoria belongs to the early ripe varieties. Its fruits reach technical maturity in about 110 days from the moment the first shoots appear. The period of biological maturity of these peppers is easy to determine by their color: it changes from light green to deep red. The fruits are shaped like a cone with a slightly ribbed surface. Their length will not exceed 11 cm, and the weight will be about 60 grams. The wall thickness will be in the range of 4 to 7 mm.

The pulp of the fruit stands out. She is incredibly juicy and sweet. Despite its special tenderness, it is perfect for canning.

Advice! Sweet Victoria peppers are best consumed fresh. Only with this use, all useful vitamins and minerals are preserved.

This variety is cold hardy, making it ideal for growing in our climate. In addition, plants are not afraid of black rot and other common sweet pepper diseases. The yield of plants can reach 7 kg per square meter.

Recommendations for growing

Like other varieties of sweet pepper, Victoria is grown in seedlings. Seeds are planted for seedlings in the month of February.

Pepper seedlings: from germination to pickling

After 8-10 weeks from the appearance of the first shoots, the finished seedlings can be planted in a permanent place. As a rule, this period falls on May – early June. Victoria is perfect for both greenhouses and open ground. At the same time, it can perfectly adapt to any, even the most difficult soils.

Important! Despite the fact that Victoria pepper is cold-resistant, when planting in open ground, it is worth waiting for the completion of frost.

Plants should be planted no more than every 50 cm. Victoria has one more feature: all side shoots and leaves must be removed from its plants up to the first fork of the trunk. If this is not done, the bush will begin to branch strongly, and grow green mass instead of fruits.

It is necessary to care for Victoria plants in the same way as for any other variety of sweet pepper, namely:

  • water regularly;
  • weed;
  • loosen;
  • fertilize.

Harvested from July to September. At the same time, it is quite well stored and transported.

Every year, many gardeners and gardeners choose Victoria for planting on their plots, and this is perhaps the best calling card.

I bought these seeds on the advice of a neighbor. The seeds were planted in February, and they almost all sprouted. Since other peppers occupied the entire greenhouse, Victoria was planted on an ordinary bed. I thought the harvest would be poor, but I was wrong. The fruits set well. They were not very large in size, but there were many of them. They taste juicy and meaty. I will definitely buy these seeds again.

I plant Victoria in a greenhouse along with other peppers. The bushes are medium in size, but can branch heavily. She always bears well. I really like that the fruits can be perfectly stored. Their flesh is quite sweet and very juicy. I recommend the variety.
