The incidence of COVID-19 among fully vaccinated people is 10 times lower than among unvaccinated people, reported the Italian National Institute of Health (Instituto Superiore di Sanita – ISS).

This does not mean that fully vaccinated people are also fully immune to the virus. They can get sick anyway. However, there will be fewer cases of COVID-19 among those who are vaccinated than among those who did not.

Scientists at the ISS believe that the progressive vaccination course may lead to a paradox – the number of infections, hospitalizations and deaths will be similar between the vaccinated and unvaccinated groups. However, when comparing the data from both groups to the overall population, it can be seen that infections are much less common among the vaccinated.

According to the latest government figures, more than half of the Italian population over the age of 12 (almost 52%) has already been fully vaccinated.

«We now know that vaccination against COVID-19 protects 88% of all vaccines if they are fully vaccinated. before infection, in 94 percent. before hospitalization, in 97% before going to the ICU and in 96 percent. before dying from disease », says the Italian institute.

Institute employees pointed out that no one provides data on the number of people who avoided infection thanks to vaccination. It is only known how many fell ill despite receiving the vaccine.
