People at risk
- Men ;
- People who suffer from excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis);
- People with diabetes;
- People with atopic eczema;
- People with weakened immune systems who have a harder time fighting infections: diabetics, carriers of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), people with chronic or severe illnesses, such as cancer.
Risk factors
- Wearing shoes too tight, or plastic or vinyl shoes, which create a humid environment;
- A foot hygiene inadequate;
- The fact of walk barefoot on the often wet floors of fitness centers, locker rooms, swimming pools or communal showers.
