Pelicans – a serious problem after losing weight

In the next episode of the series “I lost weight and what next?” together with cosmetologists and a personal trainer, we are looking for ways to get rid of this unsightly defect. By combining professional aesthetic medicine treatments and strength training, over time we can get rid of pelicans for good, achieving the effect of slim, firm arms.

Ewelina Araszkiewicz – cosmetologist at the Babian Institute

The arms are one of the places where a decrease in skin firmness is visible, especially in women. In most cases, it is associated with disorders of its regeneration, the aging process of the whole body and excessive stretching as a result of pregnancy or a large gain and then weight loss – says Ewelina Araszkiewicz — cosmetologist of Instytutu Babiana.

Saggy, flabby skin of the arms, and often additional fatness in this area, is a common problem faced by ladies. Fortunately, there are several cosmetic procedures that support the body shaping process and have a positive effect on toning the body. Treatments in the field of high-tech cosmetology combined with properly selected strength training strengthening the back of the arms are able to tighten the skin, thanks to which we will get rid of unsightly “pelicans”.

As the expert points out, in order to prepare an appropriate program of firming the skin of the arms, the individual needs of the client and the quality of his skin should be taken into account. The results of combined therapy in the case of body modeling treatments are much better than the effects of individual treatments performed individually. What treatments are recommended by Ewelina Araszkiewicz from the Babian Institute?

A treatment with the use of radio waves

In the case of pelicans, treatments using radio waves are effective, as they stimulate collagen fibers thanks to deep overheating of the tissues. Shortening, strengthening and thickening the spiral of collagen fibers improves their tension. The therapeutic effect is noticeable after a series of treatments, and the procedure is so non-invasive and safe that it does not exclude the client from everyday functioning.

Treatment with the use of ultrasound

In the case of the coexistence of the problem of excess adipose tissue and the lack of skin firmness, treatment with the use of ultrasound waves and controlled heating of the tissue through the uniform stimulation of particles is recommended. The procedure ensures effective body shaping by reducing the volume of adipose tissue with a simultaneous firming of the skin.

Venus Legacy

An extremely effective treatment to get rid of sagging skin on the arms is a non-invasive treatment with the use of the Venus Legacy device, based on radio wave technology, magnetic field and real-time heating of tissues – recommends cosmetologist Natalia Sokołowska from the Allure Institute.

The combination of these mechanisms causes angiogenesis, i.e. the formation of new capillary blood vessels and the formation of new fibroblasts through a non-thermal biological stimulation process. Thanks to this process, microcirculation in the skin is improved and the process of collagen and elastin production caused by the thermal effect of RF wave is enhanced.

Venus Legacy is perfect as a treatment that eliminates the so-called “Pelicans”, because it ensures quick, painless and homogeneous heating of tissues at various depths, which leads to shrinkage of collagen fibers, and thus – skin firming. In addition, the device has a lipolytic head, which helps to get rid of the remaining fatty tissue within the arms.

The treatment of sagging shoulder skin removal is relaxing, and certainly painless! The sensations that accompany us during the treatment are intense but pleasant warmth. The applicator is placed on the skin surface and a pleasant massage is performed with circular movements. The thermal feedback applied to this device allows the operator to continuously control the temperature which is individually adjusted for each patient. The best treatment effects are noticed after a series of about 6-8 treatments, once a week.

Regular training

In addition to visits to the aesthetic medicine office, regular strength exercises will be needed for lean arms without “butterflies”. Kuba Popławski, Master Personal Trainer, suggests how to go about them.

First of all, you should take care of the quality and firmness of the skin. In addition to all procedures, you should focus on healthy meals and generally healthy wholesome eating, drinking adequate water, sleep and low stress levels. Apart from the diet, stress is also associated with the increased secretion of cortisol – the stress hormone – which affects the quality of the skin’s collagen fibers, which is responsible for its elasticity and firmness.

A parallel issue is skin tension by increasing the volume of the shoulder muscles. By training the biceps, triceps, and shoulder muscles in general, we will make the muscle, denser, firmer and bigger. The topic of drinking water, which has a positive effect on muscle tone, is nodded once again.

Muscle mass exercises

In bodybuilding, the main task of which is to build as much muscle mass as possible, exercises for the so-called mass – comments Kuba Popławski. Training consists of 10-12 repetitions in 3-4 series.

The weight must be chosen so that the last 2-3 repetitions are heavy. Ladies should not be afraid of the burden. It is about straining the muscle as much as possible, causing as many microdamages of the fibers as possible. After regeneration, the muscle fibers are thicker and stronger.

It is best to perform such exercises in the gym, because a specific muscle can be isolated on the machine. At home, women can train with their own body weight, using different variants of flexing and extending the arms. Straightening (pushing) is, for example, various types of push-ups, and bending (pulling) – for example, chin-ups. With this type of exercise, it is worth using an exercise band, but one that offers strong resistance.

You can train these muscle groups twice a week or every three days, with 3-4 exercises for the flexion and 3-4 for the push.
