Pectosol – how to dose? Where can you buy Pectosol?

Pectosol is a preparation intended for use in the case of inflammation of the upper respiratory tract, especially in situations where it is difficult to expectorate the secretions remaining in them. Pectosol is in the form of a concentrate, the specified amount of which should be dispersed with water, preparing an oral solution.

Composition of Pectosol

The composition of Pectosol includes, among others, extracts of natural origin: thyme herb, Icelandic lichen, hyssop herb and soapwort root. Each of these plants has been known for many centuries and used in herbal medicine and traditional medicine. The auxiliary substance in the composition of Pectosol is glycerin.

Thyme has exceptional healing properties in relation to respiratory diseases. It has antibacterial and aseptic properties and soothes infections developing in the tissues of the throat and mouth. In addition, thyme helps in expectoration and has a diastolic effect, thanks to which it is very popular and is often found in the composition of syrups intended for use in both dry and wet coughs.

Icelandic lichen also has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the respiratory system. It soothes symptoms caused by the first symptoms of colds and flu, such as coughing, hoarseness, burning and scratching sensations, dry throat. Icelandic lichen is great for treating various inflammations and infections developing within the tissues of the upper respiratory system.

Hyssop is a common herb that contains numerous antioxidants and essential oils. Hyssop extract is used in medicine due to its expectorant and cleansing properties. It helps to remove excess amounts of secretion in the upper respiratory tract. In addition, hyssop herb has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties.

The medical soap is the last of the products whose extract can be found in the composition of Pectosol. Soapwort extracts are used for various health purposes, including the treatment of wet cough. This is because the soap dish has exceptional expectorant effects. In addition, soapwort regulates the work of the digestive system organs and is used as an ingredient in cosmetics.

How to take Pectosol

Pectosol is an over-the-counter drug intended for general use. It is not recommended to administer Pectosol to children under 12 years of age, due to the ethanol alcohol it contains. One dose of Pectanol contains approximately 2,4 g of pure ethanol. For the same reason, it is not recommended to administer Pectanol to people suffering from alcoholism, epilepsy or liver disease, or to pregnant women and young mothers who are breastfeeding.

Pectosal is recommended to be taken orally, 3 times a day. Before taking Pectosal, dilute it in water. For this purpose, measure approx. 5 ml of the preparation (equivalent to the volume of one teaspoon), and then mix it with half a glass of still water.

Pectosol – availability and price

Pectosol is an easily available drug; you can easily get it at the nearest pharmacy. Currently, only packages containing 40 g of Pectosol are available on the pharmaceutical market; in the past, larger packs containing 90 g of solution were also available. The producer of this preparation is Herbapol Pruszków. The price of one package is between PLN 6-8.
