Pectodrill syrup is a drug used to treat inflammation of the airways accompanied by a thick and sticky discharge. Pectodrill syrup helps to remove secretions from the respiratory tract.

Pectodrill syrup contains an active substance called carbocysteine, which is an expectorant and thinner bronchial secretions.

The carbocysteine ​​in Pectodrill syrup affects the composition of the bronchial mucus, making it thinner and easier to cough up (carbocysteine ​​is an expectorant). Pectodrill syrup does not disturb the natural cough reflex.

Pectodrill syrup is used to treat respiratory diseases with excessive secretion of thick and sticky secretions.

Contraindication to the use of Pectodrill syrup is allergy to any component of the preparation.

Other contraindications are active gastric or duodenal ulcer disease, diabetes mellitus and phenylketonuria (the syrup contains aspartame).

The use of Pectodrill syrup should not be combined with taking antitussive drugs.

Pectodrill syrup is not recommended for pregnant and lactating women. There is a concern that the active substance of the preparation, i.e. carbocystaine, or its metabolites, may pass into breast milk (which may also affect the baby). Pectodrill syrup should also not be used by women who do not use an effective method of protection against pregnancy.

People with hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency should not use Pectodrill syrup because it contains sucrose.

Pectodrill syrup is intended for adults.

How is Pectodrill syrup used?

The dose and duration of treatment with Pectodrill syrup is determined by your doctor. Treatment with this preparation should not exceed 3 days. The usual dose is 20-30 mg of the syrup per kg of body weight per day in 2-3 doses. Adults should therefore take 750 mg (15 ml) of the syrup 3 times a day, and then 10 ml of the syrup 3 times a day. The Pectodrill syrup package includes a measuring spoon of 15 ml.

Pectodrill – side effects

Pectodrill syrup may cause the following side effects: abdominal pain, diarrhea, gastrointestinal bleeding, nausea, vomiting, headache and allergic skin changes.

Pectodrill – precautions

Pectodrill syrup should not be used immediately before bedtime.

Pectodrill syrup should not be used after the expiry date stated on the package. The preparation should be stored at room temperature, in a tightly closed container, out of the sight and reach of children.

Mucolytic preparations can damage the gastric mucosa. Caution should be exercised and before using the preparation, consult a physician in the case of ever diagnosed or suspected gastric or duodenal ulcer.

In the event of abundant purulent discharge and fever, consult a doctor. Your doctor may take additional medications, such as antibiotics, if necessary.

People with chronic lung or bronchial diseases should consult a doctor before using Pectodrill syrup.

Pectodrill syrup should be used under medical supervision in the case of people with bronchial asthma. This is due to the possibility of bronchospasm. If this happens, stop using the preparation immediately and consult a doctor.

Pectodrill syrup may cause allergic reactions due to the content of methyl parahydroxybenzoate.

Although there is no clear information prohibiting the combination of Pecto Drill with alcohol, special caution should be exercised as alcohol increases or weakens the effect of some preparations.

Pectodrill syrup has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
