Pear Marble: description, photo
Pear Marble is a hybrid of Bere Zimnyaya Michurina and Lesnaya Krasavitsa varieties. The tree is afraid of cold weather, but, following certain rules, this variety can be grown in difficult climatic conditions.
The tree is medium-sized, its maximum height is 4 m. Strong and powerful branches grow on a gray-green trunk. They form a dense crown that resembles a pyramid in shape. Pear leaves are medium in size, green in color. They have an oval shape, sharp corners near the shoots and a round base. There are small teeth along the edges of the leaf.
Pear Marble can die from the cold
During the flowering period, white double flowers bloom from triangular brown buds. They resemble a saucer in shape. They are about 3 cm in diameter, collected in inflorescences of 9 small flowers. During the period of fruit formation, they acquire a pinkish tint.
The pear bears fruit for 7 years after planting, in early September. The fruits are golden in color with a green tint. A distinctive feature of the variety – there is a dark red spot on the side, as shown in the photo. A marble pear can weigh from 130 to 220 g. Its skin is smooth to the touch, dense. The pulp is creamy or white. It is juicy, sweet, has a pleasant smell.
This variety has a high yield, disease resistance and a long shelf life of 2,5 months.
Planting and caring for a marble pear
You need to plant a pear in mid-May. You can do it like this:
- Choose a sunny place for her, where there will be no strong winds and drafts.
- Dig a hole about 1 m deep. Loosen the bottom.
- Add fertilizers to the hole: peat, compost or humus. The soil should be nutritious and loose.
- Place the seedling and support in the ground. Cover them with earth so that about 4 cm of the barrel neck remains above the ground.
- Water well. Use about 30 liters of water.
- Lay a layer of peat about 10 cm high on top. This is necessary to protect the pear from low temperatures.
Correct and timely planting is an important condition for a tree to grow healthy and strong. But to get a good harvest, you need to properly care for it.
Water the tree abundantly, the soil near the trunk should always be moist. With insufficient watering, the pear will begin to shed its fruits ahead of time. Feed the soil 3 times in one season: during flowering, in mid-summer, after fruiting. Fertilizers should contain potassium, nitrogen, phosphorus and other organic elements.
For winter and early spring, hide the pear from frost. Cover it with a warm cloth or burlap
Whitewash the trunk in fall and spring to keep pests away from the tree. In spring, prune branches that have been damaged during the winter.
This pear variety is unpretentious to care for, so it is easy to grow it in the garden. Proper care will allow you to get a bountiful harvest, beautiful and juicy fruits.
