The combination of excellent taste and excellent varietal qualities allowed the pear to win the hearts of many gardeners.
General description of the pear variety “Yantarnaya”
The variety belongs to the late varieties. The harvest ripens in the second half of September. The yield of trees is high. Due to the late growing season, the ovaries are not afraid of recurrent frosts. The trees are medium-sized, the medium-thickened crown has a pyramidal shape. The disadvantages of the variety include the need to standardize the number of fruit ovaries, since their large number leads to a decrease in the weight of the fruit.
The fruits of the variety are one-dimensional and have a wide-rounded pear-shaped shape. The mass of a ripe fruit can reach 200-210 g. As it ripens, the surface takes on a yellow color with a slightly blurred light blush. Harvesting is recommended during the period of technical maturity, while the peel of the pear has a greenish-yellow tint.
The variety is partially self-fertile, therefore it is recommended to grow several pear trees on the site to increase the yield. Begins to bear fruit in the sixth year after planting.
What should be taken into account when growing Yantarnaya pear?
When planting a seedling, it should be borne in mind that the pear loves well-lit places. The best option would be the south side of the site. And also the tree reacts very badly to transplanting, so the planting site should be constant.
In order for the tree to take root faster, when planting, it is necessary to moisten the soil well. And in the first month, you should water the young tree abundantly at least once a week. In dry times, watering should be increased
Post-plant care includes the following activities:
- care for the near-trunk zone – it consists in regular cleaning of weeds, surface loosening and mulching of the soil;
- top dressing – carried out in spring and autumn in the second year after planting the tree;
- watering – for it, a groove should be made around the trunk, into which water is poured.
Like all fruit and berry crops, a pear needs crown pruning. Work on its formation is carried out in early spring and autumn. During pruning, all dried and damaged branches are removed, as well as young wild shoots.
The secret to a healthy and large harvest lies in the constant care of the trees. By regularly performing the recommended activities, you will get real pleasure in the fall – collecting healthy and tasty fruits. And with proper storage, you can enjoy the taste of fresh fruit until the New Year.
