One of the most effective ways to protect and reduce the soreness of blisters on your feet, as well as to moisturize and soften them to help remove them, are blister patches. How to use the corn patches? Are there any contraindications to their use? You will find all the information below.

Corns – what are they?

Imprints are small portions of calloused skin that often appear on the feet. Usually they are not serious, but they are painful and sometimes also inflammatory. They can be of a different nature:

  1. calluses, i.e. gray or yellow, quite soft bulges appearing as a result of constant pressure or rubbing the surface of the skin. As a result of this pressure, the skin dies, creating a horny layer of the epidermis, which grows and turns into a thick protective layer; they are usually located on the soles of the feet;
  2. Corns, which usually appear around the fingers as small (the size of a pea), colorless, hardened dots. Due to the fact that their core grows into the skin, putting pressure on the nerve endings in it, they are painful.

We also divide the prints into:

  1. hard prints – appear most often on overloaded metatarsal joints, at the first and last fingers, and also over the interphalangeal joints (from the second to the fifth toe of the foot),
  2. soft corns – they are flatter and more flexible, usually located between the fingers.

Corns on the feet – causes

In most cases, corns on the feet appear as a result of incorrect footwear selection. They can be caused, among others, by:

  1. too tight shoes, tightly pressing the foot,
  2. high-heeled shoes (poorly contoured, putting pressure on the front part of the foot),
  3. too loose shoes causing abrasions,
  4. too thin shoe sole,
  5. walking barefoot,
  6. wearing shoes without socks.

It also happens that calluses arise as a complication of untreated rheumatoid arthritis or are a consequence of gait disturbances, such as flat feet.

If the cause of corns is degeneration, it is a good idea to secure the leg properly. At Medonet Market, you can purchase the Little Toe Wedge with a Cover for Corns, which helps to properly align the little toe that has a tendency to overlap the adjacent toe.

They can also appear as a result of bone structure problems (for example, a heel spur, a small bone growth along joints). In some cases, the formation of corns on the feet may be a symptom of such diseases as: disorders in the blood supply to the lower extremities, hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disease, rheumatism, degeneration.

Patches for corns – characteristics

The most popular patches for corns include: Scholl, Compeed or Salvequick Corn. The patches for corns are waterproof, they can adapt to the skin, are based on hydrocolloid technology (based on healing wounds in a humid environment), and contain salicylic acid, which softens the imprint, making it easier to remove.

You can also choose special Footservice Gel Wheels for fingerprints, which you can buy at Medonet Market at an attractive price. Alternatively, you can choose the special Corn Plaster with salicylic acid.

Patches for corns – which one to choose?

The type of patch for corns depends on the type of imprint you are struggling with. Corns should be covered with plasters (dressings) with salicylic acid and urea, which soften the skin and accelerate wound healing.

However, callus patches should be soft to protect the skin from further irritation and pain, and contain healing substances.

As an aid in the treatment of corns, use the Scrub Foot Care Kit + Ballerina FLOSLEK mask, which you can buy at a promotional price at Medonet Market.

Patches for corns – how to use?

Apply the plaster to a clean and dry foot so that the active substance adheres to the imprint. Use the plasters until the print is removed. Each patch should be put on for about 24 hours.

After completing the treatment, you can remove the central part of the print by using a warm foot bath with salt and soap. If the skin becomes sensitive and reddened during the treatments, wait before applying the next patches.

In order to protect the imprint against external factors, it is worth buying a waterproof plaster for blisters, abrasions and blisters, which is completely invisible, or a plaster for corns and abrasions with protective foam.

Plaster for corns – contraindications
