Pasynkovanie tomato

Removing stepchildren is necessary to obtain a large harvest. Without this procedure, the plants will be rich in greens, but not in fruits. Tomato pickling usually tolerates well if you do everything according to the rules and do not confuse the leaves with stepsons.

Features of pinching tomatoes

You yourself will notice after pinching: the tomato in the greenhouse will look more neat, and its development will go in the right direction. This procedure must be done to obtain the following results:

  • reduction of fruit ripening time;
  • correct plant formation;
  • an increase in the fruiting period.

The process involves removing new branches that grow laterally from the leaf axils. Distinguishing stepchildren is easy if you look closely. It will grow between the main stem and the leaf.

It is necessary to remove new processes in time, until they reach 5 cm in length. The plant will tolerate this procedure more easily and will begin to give off strength for the development of fruits faster.

Keep a close eye on your tomato bushes – as soon as new branches appear on them, they must be removed. They usually begin to grow at the same time as flower clusters develop.

Rules for removing extra stems

There are several options for breeding tomato bushes and their formation by removing stepchildren:

  1. The most rational way of pinching for greenhouse tomatoes is to form a bush into one stem. All new shoots are removed, only the main trunk with leaves remains.
  2. If you still want to choose a two-stem option, then we leave the very first stepson from the root. It usually develops faster than others and is the most powerful. The remaining shoots are removed along the entire length of the main stem.
  3. There is an option to create a lush bush with three trunks. The main stem and the lower shoot remain. The third is the strongest stepson available on the trunk. All other shoots are removed. This method is not entirely suitable for greenhouses, as it requires a greater distance between the bushes.

The pinching process is not difficult, but try to adhere to the general rules:

  • remove only in dry and sunny weather. So the open places of the cuts will be tightened faster;
  • check the bushes for new growth every week;
  • remove shoots of any size, even if they exceed 5-7 cm. But try to notice them in time and prevent them from growing to such a length – it will be more difficult for the plant to part with them;
  • it is best not to use a tool, but to break out the shoots with your hands. Remember to wear gloves to keep the juice out of your hands.

Using the pinching method, you can at least double the number of ripening fruits. Carry out the process correctly, without harming the plant, and enjoy a large and high-quality harvest.
