Paratunka cucumbers: variety, description
“Paratunka” – cucumbers, bred literally a decade ago. A hybrid of an irreplaceable vegetable fell in love with agronomists and gardeners because it bears fruit generously and quickly. Consider the distinctive features of the culture and tips for growing it.
Description of the cucumber variety “Paratunka”
The variety of cucumbers we are considering has a powerful, branched stem up to 2-2,5 meters long, on which small crunchy fruits are formed. The root system, on the other hand, is rather weak and shallow, which makes it difficult for the plant to access water.

On the trunks, in internodes, new branches are formed, and on them – flowers that turn into ovaries. The process lasts about one and a half months, then the fruits increase in size and ripen until they turn into cylindrical vegetables with pimples, 7-10 cm long.Look at the photo. Cucumber variety “Paratunka” is distinguished by bright green, medium-sized leaves.
Ready-to-eat cucumbers are famous for their density, aroma and the fact that they never taste bitter – they are great not only for pickling and canning, but also for eating fresh.
Growing cucumbers of the “Paratunka” variety
The culture can be propagated in two ways: by sowing or seedlings.
In the first case, planting material in the form of seeds is placed in fertile soil almost at the surface, the depth of the holes should not exceed 2 cm.The distance between future plants is 30-40 cm.

The second method is more popular and safer, since already germinated seedlings are placed in the ground. To obtain them, you need to plant the seeds in plastic cups or special containers that can be disassembled. Remember, “Paratunka” does not like moving very much and starts to hurt if the root system is exposed during transplantation.
When you have material that has already ascended ready, follow these steps:
- Prepare the soil for the garden bed, after feeding it with fertilizers, loosening it up and not forgetting that the soil must be moist.
- Dig holes 10 cm deep and place young plants there, the roots of which are hidden in a coma of earth from the container in which you germinated the seeds.
- Gently sprinkle the holes with earth and tamp lightly.
- Tie the crop stem to an additional support no later than a week after planting.
Summer residents recommend fertilizing the bed with slurry and watering the plants daily with warm water.
When it’s time to harvest, do not be lazy and rid the trunks of the fruits every other day – this will increase the yield of the crop.
Compliance with these simple recommendations will allow you to collect about 12-15 kg of vegetables from 1 square meter, that is, from 3-4 plants. Paratunka is unpretentious and even the most inept summer resident can grow it.
