Paranoid schizophrenia: how is it different from normal?

Schizophrenia is a rather ambiguous term. It can take on different forms depending on the prevailing symptoms. One of the most common types of the disease is paranoid schizophrenia. It occurs in 70% of the total number of recorded patients in the world. This condition is based on delusions, persecution mania, increased anxiety, visual and auditory hallucinations, which are practically impossible to eliminate.

Clinical picture of paranoid schizophrenia

It is possible to diagnose a variety of schizophrenia only after a complete examination of the patient and after observing his behavior. The main signs of the paranoid form are the following symptoms:

  • hallucinations and delusions;
  • splitting of emotions;
  • violation of mental functions;
  • weak will.

The very first signs of a schizophrenic with paranoia are voices in his head: he sees something that is not really there, his thoughts are confused, from which crazy ideas appear, in which it is simply impossible to dissuade a person.

Man no longer perceives the world as it is. His vision is special, distorted. About everything that happens around him, a false idea is formed. This is a severe form of mental illness and dangerous. The patient is hostile to the people around him, because he sees a threat in each of them. Such representatives are a threat to society.

Stages of development of paranoid schizophrenia

This condition does not appear on its own and develops gradually. The hallucinations that are inherent in schizophrenia become a trigger for the development of paranoia. In order for a delusional state to take root in the thinking of a sick person, it must go through three stages, and these are:

  1. Expectation. The patient always expects something. He is afraid that something terrible is about to happen. It’s exciting, disturbing and scary at the same time. The patient is sure that serious changes are coming that will change his life and the lives of people around the world. This stage is illusory, when a person has not yet taken active steps, but only plans and imagines everything.
  2. Illumination. Everything that seemed strange to him becomes real and achievable. Inside, there is confidence that all thoughts and feelings are real, and that urgent action is needed.
  3. Ordering. The schizophrenic finds a logical explanation for what is happening. All images and pictures are now embodied in a full-fledged film.

If the patient’s consciousness reaches the last stage, it becomes impossible to dissuade him from delusional fictions.

Causes of paranoid schizophrenia

This form of mental illness may appear due to the same genetic predisposition. Also, the reasons include serious damage to the brain or central nervous system, regular stressful situations, excitability of the nervous system, experienced fear in the past, and depletion of the central nervous system.

Paranoid schizophrenia: how is it different from normal?

Thus, paranoid schizophrenia is really dangerous for a person, because in fact he is constantly in a state of excitement, hallucinations and delusional thoughts. The latter climb into the patient’s head very often, and sometimes it may even seem to him that everything is real. If the symptoms of the disease have not yet gained momentum, then it is more correct to consult a doctor at an early stage and consult what to do next. This type of schizophrenia, like paranoid, is one of the most common. Therefore, it is not strange that the clinical pictures are expressed in deficient symptoms and develop with other forms of this disease.
