Cold air outside, woolen mittens, indoor heating cause dryness and redness of the skin of the hands. A procedure such as paraffin therapy can help restore the beauty and youthfulness of the skin. It is easy to carry out at home.
No wonder they say that hands are a visiting card of a woman, and it is by her hands that her real age can be determined.
We will tell you how to properly make paraffin hand baths and what you need to purchase for this.
What is paraffin therapy
Initially, paraffin therapy was a medical procedure – with the help of melted paraffin, pain and inflammation in the joints with arthritis and bursitis were treated.1. Today, paraffin therapy is actively used in cosmetology.2. For example, paraffin masks tighten pores and tighten the skin of the face, while paraffin baths restore smoothness and relieve dry skin of the hands and feet.
There are two types of paraffin therapy – hot and cold. In the first version, hot (but not burning!) Melted cosmetic paraffin, enriched with essential oils and vitamins, is applied to clean, dry skin with a brush or spatula. Cold paraffin therapy differs only in that paraffin is presented in the form of a cream, and you can apply it with your hands, and there are practically no contraindications to such a procedure. Both after cold and after hot paraffin therapy, an excellent effect is observed: the skin of the hands is smoothed, becomes silky and moisturized, dryness and irritation are removed3.
What you need to buy for paraffin therapy
To please your hands with paraffin therapy at home, you will need to purchase: cosmetic melting paraffin or paraffin cream (depending on which procedure, cold or hot, you will carry out), a paraffin melting bath, a brush or spatula for application, as well as plastic bags and mittens. All this can be bought at any store that sells products for beauty salons, or on the Internet. Special cosmetic paraffin differs from the usual one in that it does not crumble when frozen and remains elastic, and is also enriched with essential oils and vitamin complexes for additional care for the skin of hands and feet. Cream-paraffin looks like a cream, so it is very easy to apply and easy to remove with regular wipes.

3 step
Apply a small amount of light nourishing cream to the skin of the hands and massage until completely absorbed.
4 step
Apply a small amount of paraffin cream with rubbing movements on the entire surface of the skin of the hands. Cream-paraffin can be applied by hand, with a spatula or brush.
5stag
Now we need to create a thermal effect. To do this, we put plastic bags on our hands, and thermal mittens on top (ideally). If there are no thermal mittens, use ordinary woolen mittens or wrap your hands in a terry towel.
6 step
We are waiting for 15-20 minutes.
7 step
We remove bags and mittens. Carefully remove the remnants of paraffin cream with paper towels. No need to wash your hands!
8 step
Enjoy beautiful and hydrated hand skin.
Step-by-step instructions for hot paraffin treatment for hands
With hot paraffin therapy, the first steps are the same: wash your hands with soap, scrub them, dry them thoroughly with a towel. What do we do next:
1 step
Let’s prepare the paraffin. To do this, melt it in a special bath. If there is no such bath, paraffin wax can be melted in a microwave or in a water bath to a temperature of 45-55 degrees. When the paraffin is completely melted, turn off the appliance and wait until the paraffin has cooled to a comfortable temperature. In no case should it be very hot when applied, otherwise burns cannot be avoided! Be sure to check the temperature of the paraffin by applying it to the back of your hand.4.
2 step
With a spatula or brush, take a small amount of paraffin and carefully distribute it over the surface of the skin of the hands. If during the process the paraffin starts to solidify, turn on the heating bath again. Paraffin should be applied in 2-3 layers.
3 step
We put plastic bags on our hands, and then thermal mittens or ordinary woolen mittens.
4 step
We wait 15-20 minutes until the paraffin cools completely.
5 step
We remove the bag and mittens, carefully remove the remnants of paraffin with a dry cloth. You can then apply a small amount of moisturizer.
Benefits of paraffin therapy for hands

In addition, paraffin therapy perfectly strengthens and heals thinned and weakened nails. The cuticle and burrs are softened, therefore, paraffin therapy is often used as a preliminary stage in trimming manicure.
