Pains of various origins, of low and moderate intensity. Fever in the course of colds and flu-like conditions. Orally. Adults. 0,3–1 g every 4 h, up to 4 × / d, max. 4 g / d. Kids. 10-15 mg / kg bw every 4 h, up to 4 times a day. Dose max. 65 mg / kg bw / dv
Galena paracetamol – contraindications
Hypersensitivity to paracetamol or any component of the preparation, severe liver or kidney failure, congenital deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and methaemoglobin reductase, use of MAO inhibitors and up to 2 weeks after their discontinuation.
Galena paracetamol – warnings
Do not use for more than 10 days in adults and not more than 3 days in children without a doctor’s recommendation. In children up to 2 years of age, the preparation can be used only on the recommendation of a doctor. In order to avoid overdose, check that other taken preparations do not contain paracetamol. Do not exceed the recommended doses. Caution should be exercised when using the drug in patients with impaired liver or kidney function and in patients with bronchial asthma. Do not drink alcohol during the treatment period due to the risk of toxic liver damage. People who are fasting and / or regularly drink alcohol are at particular risk of liver damage. The preparation contains propyl parahydroxybenzoate and may cause allergic reactions. The preparation does not contain sugar. The preparation contains sorbitol; do not use in people with fructose intolerance. Use of the preparation in pregnant and breastfeeding women only after consulting a doctor and only if absolutely necessary.
Galena paracetamol – interactions
Paracetamol increases the effect of anticoagulants (coumarins, warfarin). Salicylamide increases the elimination time of paracetamol. Do not use with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days from the end of treatment with these preparations due to the possibility of agitation and high fever. The use of drugs that increase hepatic metabolism, such as rifampicin, antiepileptic drugs, barbiturates (anticonvulsants and sedatives), diflunisal, sulfinpyrazone, certain hypnotics or alcohol consumption may cause toxic liver damage, even when using the recommended doses of paracetamol. The use of paracetamol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs increases the risk of renal dysfunction. Paracetamol increases the toxicity of zidovudine. Caffeine enhances the analgesic effect of paracetamol. The use of paracetamol may affect the results of laboratory tests, e.g. blood glucose determination.
Galena paracetamol – side effects
The following may occur: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hepatomegaly, urticaria, erythema, rash, pruritus, pigmentary purpura, anaphylactic shock. Very rare: thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, methaemoglobinaemia. The most serious side effect may be acute liver injury, usually associated with overdose of paracetamol.
